Marvin Robinson Jr.?

What gives...I thought he was supposed to commit Saturday. Any bit of good news helps these days.

I have been in contact with both him and Ricardo Miller (who is good friends with him). They are both keeping quiet for now, but not in a bad way. He decided to "wait".

he is running for the hills.  :(

Seriously...Robinson has to be thinking that he could have started against MSU and done better than Brown.

Us performing poorly is not turning guys away.  Michigan has been anywhere from good to amazing ever since any of these recruits were born.  They know Michigan is a good program.  Remember what Tate said when they asked him his impression of the first game he went to this season?  He was excited because he knew he'd have a chance to compete for a job right away.  Usually recruits have the option of a) going to a major football school with lots of tradition where they have a great chance to compete for BCS bowls and/or championships, or b) a school where they can be a contributor from day one.  The kids looking at UM right now have the very rare opportunity to have both.  This is not a bad thing at all.

with Miller saying that he told him to keep things quiet but Michigan is looking pretty good. It sounds pretty positive after just reading the article.

If anyone listened to the recruiting roundup this morning with Sam Webb, he said that he has a strong gut feeling that Marv has decided and will announce sometime in late November. In other unfortunate news, he also said that Dewayne Peace was very turned off by how cold it was so take that for what you want.

Yeah, read some quotes today from Peace saying that it was way too cold for him and not sure if he could handle the weather or not.  Hell, he needs to go back up in January to get a true taste of AA weather.

for what it is worth tho sam also said that UM is at the top of vlademir emeliens list so that is a positive. as long as we get jelani and rueben which is prolly unlikely things will be good.

So you're saying they want Robinson to wait until Vlad commits (or maybe even signs his LOI) before he gives his commitment?

Do they think Miller and Jackson had something to do with McNeal de-committing?

because he wanted to.  Not because he was frightened off by 16 yr olds he probably isn't even aware of.  He's an elite recruit - he doesn't give a shit about who else we're recruiting.

As for Marvin, he's as solid as it gets.  Ricardo said he was committed - him being listed as one is a formality.  I have high hopes for Lo Wood as well.

Man, a month or two ago I was concerned that we would run out of available scholarships for this class, but that is becoming less of a problem.  It even looks like the guys we are losing are going to be replaced by guys that are either better fits or are at a position of bigger need.  Honestly, losing DeWayne Peace is not a huge loss, he was the lowest rated guy on our commit list.  If we replace his spot with someone like Vlad-a-million or even save that schollie for another spot in our talent laden 2010 class, I'm gonna be OK with that.

Considering we do seem to have decent skill players on offense, just inexperienced, I'd be pretty happy with "best defensive recruit in the country" being the best player in our class.  Randle would obviously be nice but I think we can survive just fine with Stonum, Mathews for another year, Hemingway back next year, etc.  Look at it this way -- Stonum's already got the ability to drop passes that hit him in the hands just like Braylon, Marquise Walker, David Terrell et al. all had.  I'm sure he'll develop into a fine outside receiver next year.

I'm not really worried about Rich Rods recruiting class or recruiting abilities.  Don't forget that he pulled in both Robinson and Odoms very very late.  Both would be starters, if TRob wasn't injured.  He stole Barnum from Urban Meyer. He also picked up Omaneh late. Both of them will atleast contribute as RS FR next season, if not compete for a starting job.  There is still plenty of time left to fill out this 09 class.  As long as we get a reliable kicker, hopefully Gibbons now, Big Will, and get some much needed help at safety and LB, hopefully Jelani Jenkins.  I'll be much happier.  The decommitments suck, we all think so, but Rich Rod will get what he needs to be sucessful at UM.  I've heard Forcier and Beaver will be graduating early and will be in AA for spring practice.  Any more commits on the same schedule? Keep your head up.  Things will improve.

Rojo's situation was completely different.

MRob's mom is an alum and he's a huge fan, the issue right now is his HS coach is a big OSU guy. He's about as solid as solid gets, just won't be a public commit until after theHS season ends.  Or at least that's the feeling on the street.
