We have adapted and learned to, mostly, be able to function in it. That winter a few years back with temps in the -40s was rough though. Still made me chuckle when an old neighbor living in Florida tried comparing what they had at one point (somewhere in the mid 40s) to us because her kids had to play inside.

I prefer cold weather.  I think there's nothing better than a cold, crisp day.

Which is why living in Tucson is hell for me.  But my wife is happy here, so there's that.

What I did not like about Michigan winters was that stretch in the late-January through early-March where there's 4 inches of dirty slush everywhere, and it's gray and damp.

Cold and dry is great ... cold and slushy/damp is not so great.

I could continue to upvote you.

I hate it in January when some schmuck on the weather segment of the news prattles on about 'Its going to be nice and warm tomorrow in the 40's!'

What the hell am I going to do in the 40's with slushy gray snow? I'm not going to be skiing, and I will be getting my shoes and pants wrecked. Thanks guys.

Yet, people are all happy about it. 'Oh boy! 40's!'

went to Gulf Shores in late October early November.  They had a "cold snap" with temps in the 60's.  One morning I went to Publix and the temp was 62 degrees with a beautiful blue sky, no wind and full sun, around 1030am so the morning had plenty of time to warm up.

Parked my car, got out with my shorts, long sleeve t-shirt on.  Lady next to me in her 20's got out of her car in full parka with a scarf and some kind of hat.

There seems to be about a 30 degree difference in whats considered tolerable.

We're talking about a Miami program that has been awful, in a not very good conference, for like 10+ years. They now have a proven head coach. He's not a world beater, but he's been there and done that and hasn't necessarily declined at all. There's no way they don't improve tremendously. And there's virtually zero risk. Id say it's a good move.

It depends on how it's handled.  If it's preachy / judgmental (which is not Richt's style), then it will not end well.  But if Richt provides mature guidance and support (which I understand is more Richt's style), it could be a plus.

Keep in mind that a lot of athletes have strong spiritual ties.  Denard Robinson's taking of a knee after each TD was an example of that.   There are many others.

Harbaugh has a spiritual side to him as well.  Different from Richt, but there.

Done properly, it can work ... and work well.

Although there isn't too much in the way of quotes here - LINK - he does mention that he plans for this to be his last coaching stop. Actually, or more interest for those who may not know, Richt played under Schellenberger and was a backup to one Jim Kelly during his time at Miami. What I didn't realize is that for one of his year - per the article - Testaverde and Kosar were also there. Names indeed.
