God bless this guy. I love coaches that speak their mind. Go get em Mark.

I admit to not really reading or researching the full report, but I wasn't aware that Duke and Kentucky were named?
But to your main point, yes, college sports really is a sham.

Not directly BUT players who admitted under oath they were for sale and told the amount they were being offered by other schools magically ended up at Duke and Kentucky.
This would be the easist "connect the dots" game ever if the NCAA gave two shits about it and wanted to investigate. But they arent so they dont.

Speaking of connect the dots, I love how Emmert continues to try as hard as he can to portray this as a basketball only problem. If it’s happening in basketball, it is definitely happening in football. He can’t stand the reality that the whole thing is corrupt under his watch, yet here we are.

If anything, MSU came off clean in the trial and stories related to the investigation. In particular, in the context of Bowen's recruitment.

"There's teams out here who are competing for Final Fours and national championships and they don't need to stall this thing out. They need to make decisions and roll with it. I think that's on Emmert. Emmert needs to step up and be a leader and make some quicker decisions."
I tend to agree actually - the work has more or less been done for the NCAA in this case, if indeed doling out punishments based on evidence is the goal here, and Emmert is saying that it will take time? I have a difficult time imagining what else he may need unless the motivator is hurting revenue by hamstringing well-followed programs. I mean, I could be wrong and likely am, but Mark Emmert really is an infuriating man.

but can the ncaa obtain the info the fbi has? i ain't no lawyer but i'm guessing they can't until charges are made, individuals prosecuted and all the info goes public.

The NCAA is in no hurry for the same reason that the NBA wanted to do away with San Antonio vs Detroit finals(aka defensive). Theres no money in a John Beilein vs Mark Few finals every year. Dick Vitale would have nothing to do. Scuse me, no one to blow.

If Tennessee is clean then they can thank Michigan for beating a Bruce Pearl lead team by 30 in the NCAA tournament. That was the final nail in his coffin after a season where he already served a suspension for violations.

Go for the FEW

That's
Good for the FEW

Not going to lie, I actually respect him a little less now.
The jab at UNC looks pretty salty considering it wasn't relevant to the conversation.
December 10th, 2018 at 11:06 PM ^
As a Michigan fan you should know what its like to be salty after losing a National Championship to a cheating program. Ya know after 2013's mens basketball championship loss to VACATED
December 10th, 2018 at 11:20 PM ^
And I thought Beilein handled that well.
That being said, I think Mark looks a little petty here.

What's really going on here is the NCAA is scared that if they blow open the pay for play schemes then the cries for the NCAA to pay players a cut will become deafening and ultimately force them to begin paying players
The NCAA is biding time. They'll have to punish some big time schools. Itll be interesting how this plays out
Now I just wish it would extend to football. Oh I want to see Alabama and Ohio State fall HARD.
