Marching Band arrangement of Better Son/Daughter?
I know MMB people have asked people before for ideas for the 4th quarter song, and I would be shocked if no one had suggested this song. It seems like the percussion in the song should translate pretty smoothly to a marching band arrangement. I can see the whole student section singing along (your friends just sing along...),
Anyway, if this suggestion has been made, then add my signature to the nomination form. If no one has, then let's get on this MMB!

I think this would translate horribly into an MMB arrangement. Even if it didn't, this is definitely not the type of song i'd want to hear before 4th quarter.
Ecstasy of Gold please.

Agree to disagree about whether it would work. However, if not Better Son/Daughter, I would definitely be pleased with the Ecstasy of Gold.

while i really like that song, what about Grieg's in the hall of the mountain king, wagner's ride of the valkyries, or mussorgsky's night on bald mountain?

God dammit, that is TOO awsome.

Gustav Holst's Mars, the Bringer of War. I try to suggest this whenever anyone brings up what the Marching Band should play.

This probably won't happen. Not only is Mars pretty cliche among marching bands, Temptation sounds kinda similar and is much more exclusive to MIchigan.

Doesn't Notre Dame and/or Penn State already do this?
What's wrong with what we already have?

Nothing, really, but playing the same playlist for pregames for basketball is something I hope the band changes this year. They're awesome, don't get me wrong, but the same thing every game is a little bit emotionally deflating. Some songs always have to be played of course - The Victors, Let's go blue, etc - but stuff like Panama and Kashmir (great songs, I like them both) could be rotated. Of course, I'd still like to hear them more than once a season, but you get the idea.

In some BlastBeat88 versus the world thread a few weeks ago.
I think it would work great for a halftime show.

Last year band members also asked for suggestions for a 4th qtr song, but I don't remember there actually being a new song. Did I just miss it?

Really, this is what the MMB needs:

That band has woodwinds, ergo they can't be loud or awesome.
Run and tell THAT homeboy, homeboy, home, home, homeboy.
