Many have speculated that his relationship with Coach B was rocky but why? Did Manny feel like he wasn't being utilized properly in the offense or is this more a result of Deshawn leaving?

I hope he gets a good break and winds up on some team in the NBA. I don't want to see him playing next to Sherron Collins in Shanghai next year.

he should be perfect in the NBA. I spoke with him after the OSU debacle in Indy and he was very polite. But fundamentally, he is so far behind other players who will be drafted. He's a great athlete but his fundamentals are frickin' horrid.

March 29, 2010 • Manny Harris Bio ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's basketball junior guard Manny Harris (Detroit, Mich./Redford HS) announced today (Monday, March 29) that he will leave college early and enter his name into the 2010 NBA Draft. "After long discussions with the U-M staff and my family and friends, I have decided to pursue my dream of professional basketball and leave U-M early for the NBA," said Harris. "It is important for me to thank the University of Michigan, Coach Beilein and his staff, my teammates, my professors, as well as all those in the athletic department who have helped me over the last three years. My growth as a person and player wouldn't have been possible without them. "I will always appreciate the college game and what it has done for me, but playing professional basketball has always been a goal and I feel it is the best time to pursue that. I will always be a Michigan Wolverine at heart and bleed Maize and Blue forever." "Manny believes it is his time to move on to the NBA and we fully support him," said U-M head coach John Beilein. "It was a tough decision for him and we are prepared to assist him in every way we can as he begins this new chapter in his life. Manny has assured us he plans on successfully finishing this semester, which would put him in a position to graduate from Michigan with just one more academic year. "In three short years, Manny has compiled outstanding career numbers in points, rebounds, assists and steals -- milestones many very good players do not reach during a four-year career. I have many fond memories of Manny's time at Michigan. He has been clutch in so many big wins. We certainly will miss him; however, we wish him nothing but the best in his professional basketball career and beyond." Harris started 97 of 98 games during his three seasons at Michigan, averaging 17.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He finished with 11 career double-doubles and became just the second Wolverine in history to record a triple-double when he tallied 18 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists against Northern Michigan on Nov. 14, 2009. Throughout his career, he tallied 83 double-figure scoring games, with 37 of those of 20-plus points. This past season, Harris averaged a career-best 18.1 points per game and scored in double figures in 29 of 31 games played, including 16 games with 20-plus points. He became just the fifth Wolverine in history to record three consecutive 500-plus point seasons. As a sophomore, Harris helped Michigan to a 21-14 record, which tied a school record for the largest single-season turnaround in program history, helping U-M earn its first NCAA Tournament bid in 11 years. A three-time All-Big Ten Conference selection and two-time U-M Most Valuable Player, Harris scored 1,668 points in his three-year career, putting him 10th in school history and making him one of just three juniors to reach the 1,600-point plateau, joining Mike McGee (1978-81) and Jalen Rose (1992-94). Harris ranks 32nd with 549 career rebounds and is among the top 10 all-time for free throws made (484, 3rd), free throw percentage (.827, 3rd), three-point field goal attempts (447, 5th), three-point field goals made (142, 6th), free throw attempts (585, 6th), steals (144, 7th) and assists (366, 9th). The NBA Draft comprises two rounds and 60 total selections and will be held Thursday, June 24, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Contact: Tom Wywrot (734) 763-4423

"Manny will eventually hire an agent, but he's just at the beginning of the process right now. No chance he returns." Well Manny I really wish you the best, but I feel like you're going to regret this. Either he really doesn't want to play without Deshawn, or that disconnect between him and Beliein is real.

And I'm sure the salary he can pick up in Europe is better than most post-college jobs out there in this economy right now. Hopefully for him he can be successful enough to get a shot later. Or make enough money to come back, take a year off, get his degree, and work like the rest of us.

I think he mad a mistake but best wishes. thx for the memories. This negative will create a recruiting postive. Just a hunch. Go Blue!

Does anyone have any clue who our primary dribble penetration/scoring threat will be next year? I seriously have no clue, Morris better take a quantum leap next year, and the Stu/Novak duo better take a step above useless or we are going to have a rough year.

Like everyone else, I wish he had stayed...but that's only because he's a great Wolverine who would help the team. I think Manny will eventually be a good pro. He has the skills and the drive to succeed. Even if his success comes in Europe, who wouldn't like a chance to live in Europe and play basketball for a living. He'll still make great money and has a chance to graduate from UofM in time. Go Manny and Go Blue!

I am sad to see such a great talent leave yet I think it's best for the long-term success of this team. It is now officially John's team. Next year may be a little rough but it will be exciting to see how all of "his" players run the offense.

Well, sounds like the door is closed to a return. Oh well, we got three good years out of him and a tourney appearance. We can't complain too much. Now let's get Zeigler and move forward.

I think Manny leaving is actually a good thing. As great of a talent as he is, he's too much of a moody prima donna on the court from everything that I've seen... he has played many a notable half-assed shift in his years here, where you can tell there's no real effort out of him. He's clutch at times, sure, and has won a few games almost by himself over the years, but there are other times (like a certain game where he missed 4-5 fast break layups) where he clearly is not putting the effort he needs to into the game. He's better off in the NBA where that kind of attitude is acceptable.

I don't agree that Manny is a "moody prima donna", but this decision is probably best for the team. There will be growing pains due to lack of talent and experience next year, but Beilein will finally be able to begin molding players into one single cohesive unit.

Next year, Anthony Wright will be the only senior on the team. I actually like the idea of a very young team (not for next year, but the following years).

Sorry about that - he is a redshirt Junior and won't be back for a 5th season. So we are even younger than my original post would have you think - point still stands that next year might be a little rough but I am excited for the direction the basketball team is headed in.

Next year, this team is all Beilein's players. He has a system and the guys left over from Amaker have had a tough time fitting in. I think the team next year, although maybe not as athletic, will be a cohesive unit and probably really fun to watch. Good luck Manny!
