No -- the good news is that everyone who has been pining for the maize pants should be at least half satisfied.

For the record, I'll pass on the all-maize look, but I think we'll survive. At least no one has #$%^ed with the helmet.

The party line in '11 when they (whoever 'they' were) unleashed the bumblebee disaster was that the kids were pumped up. That seemed difficult to believe. IIRC, the vast majority people on this site - including the HEY THESE ARENT THAT BAD GET WITH IT OLD MAN-crowd were vocal in agreement that those were a bad look.

I hate these more than I can describe. A hate that makes me consider actually not watching the game. Fuh-cking-serious. But most of the kids on our roster probably played in a uni-color uniform at some point in high school. They'll probably like these.

Just stop fucking with our uniform. Damn.

And when you read John U. Bacon's account of that fiasco, we learn that the players didn't like them.

Heck, for (IIRC) the PSU uniform release, they had that video of the unveiling, and most of the players were just kind of sitting there golf-clapping with a weird look on their face. These kids don't care as much as we think, and it doesn't resonate as deeply as Nike wants. All that matters is that they sell ugly jerseys and shoes sewn by third-world children in dirty sweatshops for maximum profit.

Just reading that release from Nike makes me feel like taking a shower. How does an all solid color uniform "express the heritage and future of the program"? And if a company needs to strongly promote a uniform change, is it still "subtle yet bold"? Feels like these are submissions made for an entry level marketing class assignment.

This is the same company that gets blind buyers like certain MGoPosters to buy into the idea that some stupid pattern with no immediately recognizable links to the Ann Arbor campus has a distinct narrative connection to the history and tradition of the University of Michigan. Most people don't know, and do not care. It's just a dope jersey, fam. Order a size bigger when you put it in your MDen cart, don't pay attention to the multi-billion dollar corporation in the corner.

Not too bad.

Warde has made it clear that he has no intention of scheduling anymore neutral-site games. If there's a time to try these out, might as well get it out of their system during this game.

Meanwhile, at a Toys-R-Us in Jersey, a single tear runs down Dave Brandon's cheek.
