M v. ULL Super Regional Open Thread

Submitted by justingoblue on

Can't watch yet since it was moved off ESPN in favor of Oklahoma v. Texas A&M and then bumped off ESPN2 in favor of NASCAR qualifying and then subsequently blacked out on ESPN3 since ESPN thinks they're airing it on ESPN2.

Anyway, B1 0-0. Wagner starting.

Gotta love the commercial where the guy jams a Q-tip halfway through his brain. I think this is the 5th one in the last two innings.

Oh, and I thought that ball was trouble when it was hit.

ULL's pitcher is fantastic.  5 stikeouts through 3, allowing 0 hits.  Lucky for Michigan, she's also a tad wild.  You'd think that at some point her pitching every inning for ULL will fatigue her a little bit and between that and the Michigan hitters seeing more of her pitches, they'll be able to start hitting sometime, but right now it's not pretty.  Gotta keep them off the scoreboard until the bats can heat up.

so I'm not sure where he falls on the very good/elite/all-time scale, but ULL's pitcher is probably the top mid-major pitcher. However, she would actually be third on the depth chart for the team Michigan faces if they win their super regional, and would probably be at or near the bottom of WCWS pitching talent if they were to make it.

Bottom line, all the pitchers are good by this time of year, but she's not anything special to go against in a super regional.

Wagner is hurt, so it it looks like its Driesenga or bust for Michigan. She just has to regain her regular season form and pitch Michigan into the WCWS.

Nice play Romero! That should fire Michigan up!

If that doesn't, I don't know what will at this point.
