BUSINESS. AS. USUAL.

A week removed from head coach Mike Bottom winning his first B1G Championship as head coach of the Women's team, his Men just brought home their 6th straight B1G Championship.

The #5 ranked Men powered their way through winning individual titles-

  • 200-yard Medley Relay
  • 800-yard Freestyle Relay
  • 500-yard Freestyle (Anders Lie Nielsen)
  • 200-yard Individual Medley (Dylan Bosch)
  • 50-yard Freestyle (Paul Powers)
  • 400-yard Individual Medley (Dylan Bosch)
  • 1,650-yard Freestyle (P.J. Ransford)
  • 200-yard Backstroke (Tristan Sanders)
  • 200-yard Butterfly (Dylan Bosch)

Dylan Bosch. THE LEGEND. He has won the 200 Fly ever year he's been at Michigan. The first swimmer ever to win the B1G Championship in the event four times.

The senior class will leave Michigan with a 38-0 overall record, a 24-0 record against B1G teams, 4 B1G Championships and as of this moment, one NCAA National Championship. Not to mention they have taken home NCAA hardware--be it gold or bronze--in each of their attempts thus far.

Michigan wins its 40th B1G Championship all-time. M Swim will likely pass Football in B1G Championships soon at this rate.

Mike Bottom is in Bo Schembechler, Carol Hutchins, Fielding Yost territory as far I'm concerned. In just three years, he's won the B1G as the Women's head coach and has kept the Men's program winning championship at the same rate it was before he took the second job.

Final standings-

Place Team Points
1. Michigan 1475.5
2. Indiana 1306
3. Ohio State 1294.5
4. Minnesota 919
5. Wisconsin 832.5
6. Purdue 725
7. Iowa 551
8. Northwestern 462
9. Penn State 357.5
10. Michigan State 230

While it comes as no surprise, its a shame that sports like these don't get the recognition that football and basketball do. When it comes to sports like swimming, gymnastics, and softball, Michigan is in a league by itself.

Congratulations are in order. Well done, men. Continuing the tradition of excellence that Michigan is known for.

I'm curious and naive how does Mike coach both?  Couldn't the men and women teams have meets in different locations on the same day!? He couldn't possibly be at both, right? I'm so confused...

Looking forward to another long run for the football team. And, the rising tide will lift all our boats - to the level of our solar cars! Let's not forget that team.

Their athletic department is by and large a mess. They have been doing great in the two highest profile sports.  I wouldn't say the fact of having two of the best coaches in those two sports, one an all-time legend, equates to saying the place has any committment to overall excellence.   Embarrassing is a fair word to describe their programs in many sports.
