M Soccer - 2012 - Can Chaka lead us from the land of the lost?

Submitted by James Burrill Angell on

Since the Michigan soccer season starts earlier than the football (and frankly we've had nothing but bad news on the football front today) I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the upcoming soccer season.

1) I can't find a darned thing about the incoming freshmen (if there are any). Not on the MGoBlue site where you usually find a press release and not listed on the roster.

2) Were there major defections after Burns left?

3) Do we bring anyone back who is any good?

Also I believe chaka is going to carry a team of 22 with exactly 2 players at each position. Personally, I think this is a bad idea(depth). However there will always be competition at every position.
Recruiting wise I don't know who's committed but he's recruiting an outside mid and center mid. I don't know names but I would imagine he's recruiting players from csa wolves academy. Also the academy finals are finishing up this week so I think he should be done evaluating players soon and getting the offers and percentage of scholarships out soon. Within a month we should know who's committing

Who is good? Goalie Adam Grinwis is pretty darn good. His summer season just ended as my PDL Bucks were upset by FC London in the Elite 8. Bucks fans have been spoiled by good goaltending. The last 3 were Dominic Cervi (recently of Celtic), Steve Clark (currently #1 at Honefoss in Norway), and Mitch Hildebrandt (with NASL's Minnesota). Adam definitely fits in with that bunch. Barring some disaster I can definitely see him playing professionally. The team wasn't good last season but after watching him this summer I'm confident that things would have been much worse without him.
