M Golf upsets 2 Ohio State in B1G Tournament
Another year, another run for Michigan at the B1G Match Play Tournament.
Fresh off of their incredible championship from last year, Michigan was seeded 7th in this year's tournament in Palm Coast, FL.
In the first round, Michigan disposed of a pesky 10 seeded Wisconsin yesterday morning. Kind of a strange match play, as two matches were halved and Michigan advanced to the next round by a score of 2-1-2, with wins coming from Kyle Mueller and a one-up win from Chris O'Neill.
Next up, Michigan had to take on 2 Ohio State who received a first round bye.
In the first match, Andrew Yeager defeated OSU's Sparling by 2. Then shortly after that, Tom Swanson blew out his opponent, Tee-k Kelly (!) by 4.
OSU, however knotted the contest up at 2-2 but their really were no worries for Michigan. Kyle Mueller, who solid all tournament, won by 6 over his opponent Engle.
Michigan advanced onto the semifinals early this morning where they pounded 3 Iowa 4-1-0!
But the second straight year of a miracle run ultimately fell short, with Michigan coming up a match short in the championship round against 1 seed and #2 ranked Illinois where Michigan lost 3-2.
Still, a lot of positives to take out of this one. Hopefully Michigan can take their success in this year's tourney and make it happen in the B1G Championships in Newburgh, Indiana this year. Unlike last year, where Michigan won the B1G Tournament but fell flat on their face in the B1G Championships when they finished in last place.

Love the content WD, and am a fan of your contributions to the blog, but the match play scores are indeed incomplete. I am assuming the wins by "4" and "6" refer to "4 and 3 or 2" and "6 and 5 or 4" respectively. Picking nits indeed, but I would hate for Bust a Nuss to feel like a dumbass when the there is in fact an issue with the reporting.

And in the gentlemen's game of golf, when you are mathematically eliminated you are obligated to concede the match and stop playing. So you don't even get those last 2, 3 or 4 holes to practice.
