Luis Bites Again -- srsly you cant make this stuff up

Submitted by superstringer on

Here's video from just now -- Luis Suarez bites Italian defender on his shoulder:

It's not 100% conclusive but, given his past record, I'm convinced.

When does this animal get banned from FIFA permanently?  Third time he's done it.  What kind of deranged mind does this?  I don't care that he's the most exciting striker in the world -- the fact the's done this 3 times, including twice in about 18 months, is proof enough.  Ban him permanently.

LFC fans -- you can't seriously support this animal, can you?

You're right, not 100% conclusive, but at least about 97% conclusive.

And Italy got screwed on the red card...that was a touch foul.  Cleats were a bit high but nothing worthy of a red.  Dempsey got kicked in the face + broken nose and nothing.

Officiating inconsistency is this World Cup has been rampant.  It's like we're watching Big Ten basketball.

"And Italy got screwed on the red card...that was a touch foul."

Uhhh, no. That was not a touch foul. He kicked him directly in the knee. Anytime you go cleats up straight to the knee, you're getting at least a yellow. It may not have deserved a red, but definitely a card-worthy offense.

"Officiating inconsistency is this World Cup has been rampant."

Fully agree. The Dempsey incident should have been at least a yellow.

... he has some serious issues, especially considering the timing, the risk of being caught.  Just foolish behavior that you have to believe he cannot control.  I mean if you need one goal, you are up a man, and you are in an attacking zone, and your first instinct is to bite the defender to break skin, you clearly are not a sane individual.

God knows Fifa is toothless (pun intended), but I can't wait till they find an excuse to ignore this one.  Always comical.

Seriously, is it that hard to impliment a system that gives cards for shit like this at halftime or after the game? Throw in another card for diving too.

You know you get suspended from the next match if you get 2 yellow cards, right? And it doesn't have to be in the same game. That's nothing to sneeze at. Jones has a yellow now. If he gets another against Germany and we advance, that's really gonna hurt not having him.

I also want a clock between pitches in baseball.

They suspended Torsten Frings from the '06 semi for something that happened in the skirmish after the quarterfinal against Argentina. It wasn't seen by any of the match officials but was caught on camera by an Italian, who published the photo.

It's entirely possible they'll take action against Suarez for this. There's probably a Colombian with pictures, too.

The front page of ESPN shows Suarez holding his teeth, the way you would if you bit on something unexpectedly hard.  That's awfully conclusive too, when added to the rest of it.

I was rooting for Uruguay because I always root against Italy, but Italy's behavior this tournament has been pretty benign, so maybe my mind is changing a bit here.

I always root against Italy as well. Teams like Italy, Portugal, and Brazil do nothing but dive and complain to the referee.

What is sad is that this tournament has been a huge success, I really feel like Soccer will grow in America even more now, but this will be a black cloud over it. I don't want Americans to say "these Soccer players are freaks, let's stick to 'our' sports".

It will be up to the Football Association (FA) of England. They will have to decide what to do with him should he stay (unlikely) at Liverpool. Additionally, UEFA could ban him from Champions League. He is a massive wanker, so I can definitely see Madrid picking up Suarez to join Pepe's lunacy.  Hope he gets the mental help he needs and a lengthy ban from international and club soccer.

When my kids were toddlers, biting in pre-school was a big problem.  You would get thrown out if it happened multiple times.

So let's review . . . if a toddler did what Suarez did, he would get thrown out.  Yet Suarez was allowed to keep playing?

God invented FIFA so the NCAA could still have someone to laugh at.

We had one major biting incident where a kid bit another kid in the upper back, and needless to say it was a huge problem for the kid who did it that took a lot of time to sort out, and while I wouldn't admit it at the time it was clear that the biting kid needed some serious help, help which I believe he started getting soon after the incident.

At that age, shit like that happens but even then it's a huge deal. For it to happen with adults, on this stage, is almost incomprehensible.

But I would say in general if you're in grade school there's no excuse for biting. Earlier than that, then yeah I don't think it necessarily raises any alarms, but 1st/2nd grade and up, from my experience (which to be fair is professionally limited to a camp that's very well-regulated and has generally pretty well-adjusted kids) and that becomes a big problem very fast.

I mean, just the fact that we're discussing the ages when biting can be considered at least somewhat acceptable as being well in the single-digits only underscores the incredible childness and impetuousness of Suarez, a grown fucking man. I mean Jesus Fucking-with-a-capital-F Christ.

and fed before a match. In all seriousness, he has mental issues; he should be banned if not for two years at least one, along with psychological counseling and therapy. I don't know if he should be banned permanently, I'd like to think there is hope for the man, but if he was it would be understandable.

Months would be worthless.  All it would do is ban him from friendlies unless the ban extends to his club.  Uruguay won't play meaningful games for another year.

How about five years, to keep him out of the next World Cup and its qualifiers entirely?  I wouldn't say that except that he's a repeat offender.
