[LOCKED] OT: Golden State Warriors unanimously vote to skip customary White House visit

Submitted by Fieldy'sNuts on

It didn’t take the Golden State Warriors long to decide to skip the traditional championship White House visit.

Less than 24 hours after winning the 2017 NBA Finals on Monday night, the Warriors unanimously voted to decline the White House ceremony honoring their Finals win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to several reports including one by CNBC analyst Josh Brown.

The Warriors attended the White House ceremony to honor their 2015 NBA Finals title when former President Barack Obama was in the White House.

Is very different for everyone. For me a president that lacks leadership abilities, cowers to other countries, doubles our national debt, encourages hate against law enforcement, encourages and rewards division of the country and through his many actions pretty much proves that he hates America is a piece of shit but what do I know...

Who gives intelligence to the Russians in person, damages US alliances with every country besides Russia, creates a leadership void in the world that China is gladly filling, has no plans for a remotely balanced budget, encourages hate towards non-white non-Christians, encourages and rewards division of the country and through his many actions pretty much proves he couldn't care less for America and is a PoS, but what do I know...

While this president encourages hate against anyone that doesn't look like him. He literally wants to take taxpayer money to build a wall. Don't forget about the travel bans. Which he won't ban any countries he has business ties with. If Obama had been tangled up with the Russians as much as trump, they would have hung him for treason by now.

If people want to know the REAL problem with this country and why Trump got elected, this is it.

The left (not democrats, per se, though increasingly) take dissention and turn it in to "hate". Everything is motivated by the most sinister reasons... It can't possibly be that people actually just want to have some control over who is coming into the country. It couldn't be that there are real people at the bottom who's jobs are leaving or being given out right in front of them.

Keep in mind, your family member/friend/neighbor voted for Trump. You are indicting them as much as you are Trump to being a racist/homophobe/bigot, and that is about as divisive as it gets.

Drop this shtick that Obama was a rose-scented uniter. Do you remember a hot mic catching Obama promising to help out the Russians if he were elected? I doubt it.

can't just be that people actually just want to have some control over who is coming into the country."

Of course it can be, the issue is just that he is not one of them.  Building a wall will have almost no effect on illegal immigration over the southern border.  It is a complete waste of money and he knows it, which is why he is not budgeting for it.

The "travel ban."  He wanted 90 days to implement "extreme vetting."  It has been nearly 150.  Why would these "extreme vetting" procedures not now be in place?  Why would the travel ban even need to go to the Court if he only needed 90 days to implement the vetting procedures (which were already happening when he took office).

It is not that people disagree with his stated intentions, necessarily, it is that the means he proposes to acheive those goals are so transparently flawed as to undermine his ideas entirely and call into serious question what his actual intentions are.

And I am not sure what you mean by "dissension."  Your candidate is in office, and attempting to carry out the policies you support and that you supported to get him into office.  You are not the voice of dissension.

Things we will moderate so hard that if we were the government you’d probably have a 1st Amendment case but we’re not so shaddup about your freedom of speech this ain’t no democracy it’s just a message board run by people who believe in democracy.

1. Politics. Don’t you get enough of this everywhere else?

Seems pretty clear to me.

Yeah man, it's ridiculous. Rich white males are the most discriminated-against group in this country. I'm afraid to drive my car after dark nowadays!

they are not unbiased, but the key phrase is, "shaddup about your freedom of speech this ain’t no democracy it’s just a message board run by people who believe in democracy."

A) It's their rules

B) If they believe one side is more democratic (small d) than the other, they'll leave it up, because see A.

Considering most posts get taken down that have even a hint of politics immediately, yeah.  And everyone already has proxy fights about politics when it comes to athlete compensation, so I'm surprised that people complain their voices aren't heard because a post that was created about an hour ago hasn't been taken down yet.

However, left wing politics typically foster a more accepting and open community than right wing politcs. Don't get me wrong, this is not always the case. Left wing and over-PC can shut down openness, but on average the more conservative viewpoints tend to coincide with more "us versus them". I mean, look at the tone and candidate speeches at the DNC versus the RNC. DNC was all unification and RNC was everyone is pillaging the US. Would be nice for a middle ground.

This from a recovering anarcho-capitalist Misesian libertarian. There are upsides to "right wing politics", but fostering of an inclusive accepting community is not usually one of them.

Relevant sports on this blog and ESPN are dominated by African-Americans, a group of people who don't affiliate with you right wingers at all. So of course news and blogs covering them will be left leaning. Get that through your damn skull.

It amazes me that you can watch sports at all outside of NASCAR or hockey since you're so sensitive about people disagreeing with you.

I'm not a right winger, actually, but thanks for assuming. I was making an observation. I just want politics off the blog, and it annoys me that left wing political opinions are allowed to remain. If I want political babble I will go to CNN or ESPN. It's just really disappointing that we can't take a break from that shit for two seconds on a Michigan sports blog.

decision by the Warriors seems fairly significant to me.  In the grand scheme of things it isn't, but to me it seems somewhat symbolic of a pretty substantial tide change in how people view what is going on right now.  It is getting to the point that is simply cannot be ignored anymore and I think this is indicative of that.
