LJ Scott has been arrested
October 19th, 2017 at 5:56 PM ^
I didn't think he played in the Michigan game? Wasn't he injured?
October 19th, 2017 at 6:16 PM ^
He just didn’t do anything, so he might as well have not played. Sure showed up against Minnesota though. If he doesn’t play, they lose that game.
October 19th, 2017 at 6:20 PM ^
He didn’t play.
October 19th, 2017 at 6:53 PM ^
Stand corrected.
October 19th, 2017 at 8:36 PM ^
Well to be fair to you, "he played but didn't play" in a few games before Michigan.
October 19th, 2017 at 5:56 PM ^
So it’s rather irrelevant.
October 19th, 2017 at 6:00 PM ^
It is relevant - this hurts MSU going forward and it's better for us that they lose more conference games.
October 19th, 2017 at 6:08 PM ^
Originally he was wishing that Scott had been arrested before we played MSU.
Poor form, OP, for hiding your edit.
October 19th, 2017 at 6:26 PM ^
Wow what a tool!!
[I probably would have done the same thing]
October 19th, 2017 at 11:58 PM ^
He was, this was his 7th arrest in 18 months
October 20th, 2017 at 1:16 PM ^
7 arrests in 18 months and he's still on the team? Look, I know they've had the upper hand on us on the field lately, but MSU is still a garbage program and always will be.
October 19th, 2017 at 7:13 PM ^
The rest of the way. They will definitely lose at least a couple more. We control our destiny starting with Saturday night. Going to be a tough but great challenge. I expect to see a determined Michigan team against penn state. If we beat them, it's game on the rest of the season.
GO BLUE!!
October 19th, 2017 at 5:59 PM ^
But, I don’t have license to drive home the point.
October 19th, 2017 at 8:03 PM ^
....but after a short break you can accelerate past that point and steer clear of any potholes along your road.
October 19th, 2017 at 6:00 PM ^
I suggest you check the boxscore of the game and report back on LJ Scott's impact.
October 19th, 2017 at 6:07 PM ^
Tone of their program and how they win.
October 19th, 2017 at 9:12 PM ^
Are you Grant Perry?
October 19th, 2017 at 10:32 PM ^
I just read this article.
This is his SEVENTH god damned arrest for this (including one time while not driving with headlights AND having an open container that he admitted belonging to him).
Pleaded down six other times. Six. Yes, seriously.
Anyone who thinks East Lansing PD and DA don't give players preferential treatment is an idiot.
Clearly D'antonio is a discipline focused coach (obviously it takes 8 arrests in East Lansing for some action to be taken...)
October 19th, 2017 at 6:02 PM ^
But multiple operating while license suspended charges usually speak a bit to the driver's maturity level. Per the article, this is his seventh strike on that count.
While that was and still may be the most common "crime" in Michigan, it is generally not considered serious. Howevah, judges get sick of seeing you after several times, so he may get punished here - which would seem to impact an already depleted Spartan squad.
October 19th, 2017 at 6:08 PM ^
I couldn't believe what I was reading. 7 freaking times by the age of 21? He obviously has zero regard for the law.
October 19th, 2017 at 7:03 PM ^
That was my thought. I'm 47 and fairly aggressive when I drive and I've can only think 7 times total that I've been pulled over. That includes shit like my headlight being out.
October 19th, 2017 at 8:47 PM ^
I’m 23 and have been pulled over about 10 times....many of those without a license lol.
October 19th, 2017 at 9:12 PM ^
LOL? Are you proud of that?
October 19th, 2017 at 9:22 PM ^
Not proud, also not ashamed. A few times I have been pulled over just so the terrible cop could see if I had anything illegal on me I’m sure of it.
October 19th, 2017 at 9:30 PM ^
If you were driving without a license that many times, it sounds like you had it coming.
October 19th, 2017 at 10:17 PM ^
The cop doesn’t know that though.....just wants to be a dick. We need to educate cops better in America. Blows my mind we give so much power to college flunk outs.
October 19th, 2017 at 10:33 PM ^
Why was your license suspended?
October 19th, 2017 at 11:19 PM ^
In your situation, precisely what does the cop need to be educated on?
October 19th, 2017 at 11:30 PM ^
The reason cops are so bad is not becuase they are racist (some are but not many) it is becuase they suck at their job. They have minimal education and often are quick to anger. I think we should have less cops, require much better training, and pay them more.
October 20th, 2017 at 12:06 AM ^
So it's the cops issue you got pulled over approx 10 times and many of which you didn't have a license?
October 20th, 2017 at 1:09 AM ^
Out of those 10 times I was driving illegally about 5....the other times I was just guilty of looking like someone who might have illegal things in the car. And his isn’t about me....cops in general are awful. My dad who has not committed a crime in giant life feels the same way. And we NEVER agree on anything so it must be true.
October 20th, 2017 at 2:19 AM ^
New York, San Francisco, or Beanstalk Giant?
October 20th, 2017 at 3:43 AM ^
Is the license plate in your name? If they run the plate, and the registered owner has a suspended license, that is now considered reasonable suspicion to pull the vehicle over if the driver matches the description.
October 20th, 2017 at 9:09 AM ^
There are awful cops, no doubt, but to say they're awful in general is fucking bullshit. Being a cop is a hard, usually thankless job, and I know that's true because me and my dad agree on it and we don't agree on anything either.
October 20th, 2017 at 9:55 AM ^
Most cops I've known (and in a former life worked with) were good professionals trying to help the community, often with little support from that very community. It's a tough job, doesn't pay great, and I'm far from a cop-hater. Some were great at the job, others not so much, but the majority were trying to do a good job and doing it the right way.
But there are, as you say, awful cops out there. And unfortunately, they can smear a PD's reputation pretty quickly - especially if they're aggressively pursuing people for the wrong reasons. It only takes one or two bad cops on a beat to make a neighborhood resentful of the force as a whole.
I understand the "blue code" but I wish there was no such thing. The few bad cops really wreak a lot of damage on their fellow cops, and if I were a cop I'd want the ability to call them out on that bullshit without buying myself a shit-storm.
October 20th, 2017 at 12:45 PM ^
Brilliant reasoning.
October 20th, 2017 at 4:31 AM ^
I'm a cop, have a law degree and passed the bar in two states. How hard is it to maintain a valid driver's license? Is it someone else's fault you had trouble doing it?
October 20th, 2017 at 7:44 AM ^
I think his complaint boils down to selective enforcement and profiling. Gucci's a smart guy, and undoubtedly realizes that DWLS is an avoidable offense.
I'm not excusing it, but a suspended license can be a backbreaker for some folks. If you rely on your car for work, and lose the license (granted, 9.9/10 times for driving foolishly in the first place), you're often faced with the choice of giving up your job or hoping the cops don't get you. And if you've ever been poor, it's not always easy to keep your insurance in place, plates current, license up to date, and feed the kids. Again, not excusing it, but it's not as simple as many make it out to be.
None of which mitigating factors apply to LJ Scott, of course. He was just being an entitled dumbass pure and simple (sevenfold), and deserves thirty days or so to figure out that repeat DWLS is a serious matter.
And that sense of entitlement is what makes this news, IMO. MSU football still has a culture problem, it would seem.
October 19th, 2017 at 9:51 PM ^
Yup, those cops were assholes...
October 19th, 2017 at 10:34 PM ^
Gucci Mane is LJ Scott?
Seems legit.
October 19th, 2017 at 11:37 PM ^
Quit bragging about being white.
October 19th, 2017 at 9:14 PM ^
MSU Police sometimes make it a mission to bag a football player.
October 19th, 2017 at 11:39 PM ^
I don't think MSU police work in Ohio.
October 19th, 2017 at 6:42 PM ^
One of my friends. The judge put him in jail for 30 days.
October 19th, 2017 at 6:46 PM ^
Your friend should have been better at football.
October 19th, 2017 at 7:21 PM ^
On the bright side he did become an excellent bicycle rider, thanks to no longer possessing his license. Scott might want to give that a try.
October 19th, 2017 at 6:04 PM ^
And he fumbles away his career.
October 19th, 2017 at 6:09 PM ^
Don't think a suspended license will ruin his career, but holy hell 7 times?
October 19th, 2017 at 6:11 PM ^
"A" suspended license certainly wouldn't. 7 of them, now he's not evening pretending to care.
October 19th, 2017 at 6:51 PM ^
apparently, the maximum penalty for that is 1 year in prison. So let's just say it will delay his NFL career since they obviously don't care about law and order.
