Lions/Afternoon game thread

For those who are hanging onto the "it's not impossible" for the Lions making the playoffs or any other pro games...

The boos at the end of the Bills first drive almost sounded like they were playing at Ford Field...

Oh, it's not impossible, but the odds really don't warrant serious discussion.

That said, the Lions did finally find the end zone to go up 6-0 with 10:45 in the 2nd. The PAT attempt was....yeah, let's just not go there.

Go lie-downs!!!  They will win just enough games to miss the playoffs and screw up their draft status.

Oh yeah, martha will raise prices next year due to the fantastic finish the team has shown.

Looking forward to the Patriots - Steelers game at 4:30.

Last week the Lions had a chance to get a top 3 draft pick, looks like they will end up in the 8-12 range and that will suck ,because we always have a couple top 10-12 guys fall to early 2nd round

Lions can't even lose the right way

For those of us, Lions fans, that are tired of being mired in mediocrity, this was a good outcome.

I want a high draft pick.

Better get used to it...doesn't matter what this franchise does as they will always be that kind of team.  There isn't one thing about Detroit that gives you hope for future years.  Freaking Cleveland went from completely awful to a team that is very competitive in just a season (and I fully expect them to make the playoffs next year).  Meanwhile, Detroit has been stuck in the same rut for years.  For whatever reason, the Lions can never be the team that makes a crazy positive leap from one year to the next and IMO it will stay that way as long as the Ford's run the show.

What do the Fords have to do with it?  Seriously!  Martha fired the old regime - swept them all out.  She brought in a GM the league recommended. She let the GM setup the front office and bring in the coach the he wanted.  She brought in cheerleaders, like the fans wanted.  She pays the prices that the players want.

WTF else can she do to make the team a winner?  Should she put on pads and get out there to lead by example?  JFC!  Patricia is there now, whether you (we) like it, or not, and he's not leaving this year - or next year.  Give it a chance before blowing everything up again!

Cleveland has had 4 first round picks in the last two years, and they aren't hampered by the salary cap.  Which is something Quinn had to inherit...

Thank you Lions for fucking me yet again.

Week after week, year after year, decade after decade, I can always count on you to fuck my pool.  You always do it.  Pick your pathetic team to lose?  Nah fuck that.  You win a game you're not supposed to.  Pick you to win?  Nah fuck that - lose to a team far inferior.

Thanks again!  FUCKERS!!

Yeah I remember those days.  I'm guessing most don't.  Since Schottenheimer left 30 years ago they have had 4 winning seasons (didn't have a team for 3).  So yes the Lions and Browns IMO are at the bottom of the ladder of NFL all time teams.  Lions might be looking down but they don't have to look far.  Without going back and figuring out how many times the Browns traded out of their slot you have to realize that they were set for a top 5 pick probably 15 times in those 30 years.  Hard to imagine a team missing on players that many times.  16 times they had 5 or fewer wins and 6 wins twice in that span.

Matt Statsford is on the down slope of his mediocre and overpaid career.  The Lions, if they are smart, should starting making plans for his demise.

They should draft Dwayne Haskins and groom him under Statsford for 1 year, and then cut Statsford loose.

Haskins has the tools and moxie to be a Franchise QB, as long as he works hard and stays humble.

Wow, I don't think I've seen two guys keep the ball from landing in the end zone, and a third downs it at the one. Kudos to the Pats' punt cover team.

The first guy was even slowed by the PR faking a fair catch.

Im not one to lose for a higher draft pick, I’ve always thought winning teams have winning cultures, but I understand why folks think it’s good to lose when the season is over anyways. That said, who are the players folks really want in the draft that warrant the Lions wanting to tank from here on out? If it was a franchise QB sure but I don’t see that happening.
