He Gone

Lewan is ranked as a top 15 prospect by most, and CBS ranks him 8th. In all likelihood, if he goes, he will sign a contract that will give him a 10-15 year "jump start" on any career he could get with a degree. I would bet that Brady Hoke has enough integrity that he has advised Lewan to go now and not risk coming back and getting injured.
I'd love to see him come back, but there is no guarantee that he would be this high on the board if he hurt himself next year. I can't imagine him coming back.

Absolutely no one is trying to argue that he should stay. We just want him to stay.

Apparently Lewan was so impressed with your honesty that he decided to put your happiness before his own and stay. Congratulations! To all of us!!!

Preface this by saying that I think Taylor is gone.
But kids do have announcements to say they are staying. Just yesterday, Will Sutton, PAC-12 Defensive POY, had a press conference and announced he was returning to Arizona State.

the media, who can blame them for at least attempting to make it a once and done deal. It won't stop the ones that have to be elbowed out of the way, but it should make a dent.

In 1997, Peyton Manning called a press conference to announce he would be returning for his senior season at Tennessee. The crowd erupted. Heisman trophy all but assured. Then Woodson did his thing.
January 9th, 2013 at 2:50 PM ^
Peyton was the favorite to win the Heisman from the start. He had a Heisman type year too. However, Chuck wanted it more.
I currently work for a company that has a plant just north of Knoxville. Most of the guys (and gals) are bitter against us because of Chuck. I just say, "The best man won". You talk about anger. One of the women admitted that she cried when Peyton lost. She still has the front page of the Knoxville Paper and the headlines read "HEISMAN HELD HOSTAGE" The narrative says: "It is obvious to the entire nation that Manning deserved to win"
Errr the writer forgot to add '...the "Tennessee" Nation.....
Now T has not had anything to cheer about recently so they hold on to the "Stolen Heisman".

It would be cool if he were to sell the twosie and give the proceeds to Mott's or some other charity. I would love to bid on that. He should be able to upgrade to a badazz Trek or Cannondale twosie after draft day.

I suspect he will be gone. Thank you, Taylor, for all the hard work and excellent line play, and most particularly, sticking it to Tom.

What do the Michigan Football and Michigan Basketball teams have in common?
Taylor Lewan doesn't play for either one of them.

You sure about that?

You'll make some team very happy. I look forward to watching you play on Sundays (although I wish I could see one more season of Saturdays...)

If I see one negative word on here should he decide to enter the draft, it will become unpleasant.
January 9th, 2013 at 12:20 PM ^
I'm always sad to see guys leave Michigan, of course, but very happy when they find success at the next level.
January 9th, 2013 at 12:19 PM ^

There are no seabelts on a twosie. But to be safe you better wear a helmet.
January 9th, 2013 at 12:20 PM ^
And should go. Lots of money on the table and stock probably can't get any higher. I think he's at or close to his degree.
Only incentive would be 1) B10 Championship and 2) Fun in college but he's been here 4 years and I think it's good for our program to have elite guys leave and get drafted early.
Farewell.
January 9th, 2013 at 12:21 PM ^
He goes in the draft fresh off of a very solid performance against a top 5 pick next year, or, he stays and devastates people for another year.
Hard to see how a kid who is likely a top 10 pick stays another year, but who knows. Barkley is not the example I would use. He really screwed himself by staying; injury + poor performance = wish I would have got a better degree.
January 9th, 2013 at 5:05 PM ^
..........but I don't think he hurt it much at all, either. On the year he completed nearly 64% of his passes and threw 36 TD's to 15 int's, going for 3300 yards in 11 games. Last year he was at 69% passing, throwing for 39 TD's to 7 int's for 3500 yards in 12 games.
His completion percentage wasn't that big of a drop-off from last year, and his yardage per game actually picked up a little, throwing nearly the same TD's per game. His biggest negative this year is the int's, which more than doubled. Overall, though, I'd say that his 2012 and 2011 seasons were similar, in terms of his performance.
Now that I've essentially defended a player I dislike, from a team that I hate, I'm gonna go throw up now.

Those who stay will be champions, but I suspect that at 6:05, I'll be typing "Happy trails ... and good luck."
