Les Miles: Hindsight is clearly 20/20

Submitted by BKFinest on

Man, after watching this, I am so grateful that we have Rich Rod and the whole Les Myles fiasco turned out the way it did with our school. This man is the head coach of a top SEC school. Scary. I know he's all Blue, but that didn't compel him to come coach here. And after watching this, thank the good Lord he didn't:

What I just don't get is why he suddenly just starts yelling at random times for absolutely no reason at all.

I can undersand that the guy was chopped blocked and got injured. Screaming it does not aid in my understanding of this.

I've liked RR and still do.  I liked Carr.  I even like Harbaugh, but he seems to be kind-of a douche now.  Loved him when he was a player but did you see him have one of his guys fake an injury to slow down Oregon?  Or going for two points when he was up by a lot?  Just seems like his ego is so large I'm not sure he is cut out for college football in the long run.

So many of the RR haters just hate but don't have any viable alternative candidates.  There are only a handful of top flight coaches and they are no coming here if we cut RR loose early.

btw does anyone think Joe Paterno does any coaching anymore?  On TV they are always saying "what will Joe do" but he almost never talks to any assistants or players.  I think he looks like a bystander on the sidelines.

I don't see much evidence that any serious thought was put into RRod's hiring regarding his resume as an offensive guru, charting a new direction for the program, etc.  When you look at the list of candidates, actual and rumored, he is that only one with these credentials.  The fact is, at the time, he was the only one of these candidates that wanted the job.  I hope the horror of that search sticks in people's minds so we don't have to repeat it.

I wasn't sold on Miles because he was still playing with Saban's recruits at the time UM ws wooing him, and I felt like his style would clash with the UM faithful who saw him as an extension of Bo-Carr.  At least with RR, there was no attempt to connect his regime with those in the past.  Miles seems like a decent recruiter and a passionate guy, but there is a reason LSU has underachieved in recent years, and why there are some rumblings that he needs to leave before the bottom falls out.

Having gone to M with MIles, I can tell you he is a  premier horse's ass.  He burned every bridge possible (banging the boss' wife, in case you never heard that one)........when Carr took over, the first person sent packing was MIles.

You think Carr was not fond of RR?    He personally ruled Miles out of any consideration.  God knows what moron Herbstreit talks to, but Miles was never going to coach Michigan.

Some people give RIch crap for how he handles the media, but I think though he occasionally mis-speaks, he is on the whole very even tempered and articulate.

Miles is less coherent than a hobo trying to explain TIMECUBE after several bottles of Wild Irish Rose and Drano. (I may have some experience here.)

confessional?

Ok,  at the time, my first pick was  . . . Brian Kelly  . . . (would we be face-palming WITH him right now?)

Less is absolutely certifiable; but god he's entertaining to watch.

I BADLY wanted Les Miles when the coaching search first started, but I didn't actually think Rich Rodriguez was even an option.  I have always regarded Rich Rod as one of the very best coaches in college football and as soon as I heard he was talking to Michigan I was extremely excited.  Everything happened for a reason and Michigan has the right coach in place and there is nowhere to go but up.

that les miles doesnt really know whats going on. you rarely see a coach manage the clock as badly as les did on saturday but the craziest part is, is that LSU does this at least twice a season! how does he do it??

I had no idea he was this crazy...  was he this nuts when we were thinking about hiring him or did his dementia accelerate in the last few years?
