LC interviewed on ABC Channel 7 In Detroit
Former Head Coach Lloyd Carr was interviewed at 5:30 today on the nightly newscast. Haven't seen anything posted yet, so I figured I'd pass along.
Carr said that Michigan was "on the right track." He noted that not only is Denard a good runner, but he is "tremendous at passing the football" [ed. Is it just me or did Lloyd always end a comment with 'the football?']
Additionally, Carr offerred best wishes to Dantonio and appreciated Tom Izzo coming out to support the fundraiser in Ann Arbor for Mott's Children's Hospital tonight.
It was nice to hear more sincere support for our football program since he left. LC always was a class act who cared deeply for our school, and for that I'll be forever grateful.
Go Blue!

Every time I read the word tremendous, I hear it in Carr's voice. This is awesome.

That puts Coach Carr in the rarefied air of Professor Farnsworth!

No, it's not awesome. It's tremendous.

I love how he never wastes an opportunity to use tremendous. Brings back good memories.

Los Barcos just came.

Somewhere, Lloyd's got a chalkboard he makes a mark on every time he uses the word "tremendous" when talking to the media. He's going for the world record.

The way that newspaper was delivered the other morning - tremendous.
In all seriousness, he is just a lovable guy. You can't hate him. We can all wish he learned how to defend the spread or kept his playbook up to date in the last couple years, but that 1997 season was special. I will always remember that and the players carrying him off the field after the bowl win over Florida.

in the right direction, it's a good vibe.

Lloyd always loved to add "the football." Also, besides "tremendous," he's quite fond of "outstanding."

...we should all get together and sing Kumbaya.

A bit of a tangent, but I think it would be productive to develop a standard criteria for the evaluation of a coach. Reading several posts regarding Lloyd, there is always the two-faced hero/villian complex stemming from his many accolades/failure to recruit defensively during his last two years.

You lost me at "a bit." What are you talking about? You want a standard criteria for evaluation of a coach? I don't know, how about winning percentage? Championships?
And did you call LC two faced? A hero? A villain? I am confused.

A coach must recruit and land a tremendous running back with the last name Hart.
It is becoming pretty standard.

Does he think we just need to play some of the best 60 minutes of football of the season?
October 9th, 2010 at 8:25 AM ^
If our offense has the ball for 15 minutes it won't matter if we play the best 60 or not....

My favorite part about Lloyd was his image of a "grumpy old man." When a reporter caught him on the way to the locker room at halftime, you just waited to see if he was gonna punch them. Miss him though. As much as I love RR, he doesn't wear a hat quite as well as LC.
