We definitely need him. Especially since we are slipping heavily with Dior Mathis. He just disclosed his top five to ESPN and he lists in order Oregon, MSU, U of Miami FL, Tenn., and Michigan. I know it is a long way away but we seem to be losing him!

The reported 40 time in the article is especially absurd being given next to his official 100 and 200 times. Granted, whoever writes for an online publication with "studs" in the name is probably not at the top of the journalistic ladder, but how does an author speciallizing in football prospecting fail to realize that a 10.9 100 does not jibe with a 4.29 40?

Toussaint ran a 10.56 100m dash, and he's not claiming any sub 4.3 times. Compare that with Latwans 10.9 and I'm thinking more in the high 4.4s or low 4.5s. As always, claimed 40 times are irrelevant unless its clocked at a combine.

Denard ran in the 10.2's for the 100. And I was going to say the same thing. I ran a 10.9 in high school (toot my own horn) and I was never close to a 4.29 in the 40, and my first 40 meters were probably my fastest (I was never in great shape). If he runs a 10.9 he probably runs a 4.6, which is still fast for a high school safety, don't get me wrong, but not 4.29. A grand total of one (1) player at the NFL combine ran that fast.

What stood out to me from this article is Latwan's honesty about his height (5'8 & 3/4"), which I found to be refreshing. Regarding his 40 time, some guys have a very quick initial burst of speed but can't maintain it over distance(especially a guy with very short legs), which may explain the inconsistent times. Just a thought...

You're right, to an extent, but he still reported a very good 200m time. The discrepancy between the 40 and 100 is substantial, and if he couldn't maintain his 4.29 speed for 100m, he should have a pretty mediocre 200m time. But he doesn't. I think it's safe to assume his 40 time is mega fake.

I think the rule for handtimed 40's is to round up to the nearest tenth and then add .24 (to account for reflexes?). So he'd have a 4.54, which is quite reasonable.

that sounds very scientific. just add number til the time makes sense. I think we can assume he's relatively fast but as long as he makes plays it doesn't really matter. "He just had a 98 yd int return for a touchdown" "yea but it took him 15 seconds."
