Michigan has been a red-letter day for every B10 school since time immemorial.  Perhaps it's my arrogance, but I believe that most teams get more pumped up about beating Michigan than OSU, even in years when we are down.  Why?  Most wins, biggest stadium, winged helmets, arrogant fans, brown jugs, whatever -- for most teams in most years, even a losing season can be deemed successful, and perhaps glorious, if you beat Michigan.  So I'm not so worried about all of the new "rivalries."  As the players have said about a zillion times on the CTK videos, "This is Michigan.  There's always pressure to win."

Bring it on.

I like it. It's about as good as you can get. If we have divisions in bball though, the other divsion would have Wisconsin, OSU, PU, and IU. That'd suck for them

Whatever we get, we just have to beat them.  I agree that if an OSU or PSU (etc) has an easier schedule - so be it.  The same thing happens now as schedules change and teams have goo and not-so good years.

We just have to win.  Same as before.

Not trying to flame, truly... and not trying to compare program histories.  But today, I would contend UM is not above Ohio State, Penn State, Iowa and Wisconsin.  I'd place UM in the middle with Nebraska (until they prove themselves), MSU, and possibly even Northwestern.

Now could the program rebound,... sure.  But you can't have UM in that tier today.  (I know this alignment was supposedly based on records since PSU joined the conference.  So statistically, since then, yes.)

As for the proposed divisions, to me, it would have been perfect to switch out Iowa and Nebraska, and bring in Ohio State and Wisconsin into a "Great Lakes" Division.  It would have kept UM-OSU in conference, and geographically would have comprised the northern/centralized colleges in the division.

But from an MSU perspective (I know many might not care), losing OSU, PSU and Wisconsin is a good thing.  MSU has always hung with Iowa... the rivalry with UM is on, in a good way... and Nebraska, who knows?

I enjoy your forum.

I see your Michigan is struggling these days, and raise you Iowa and Wisconsin are not consistently realistic contenders for the conference title either. Wisconsin a little more often than Iowa, but I would classify Iowa and Wisconsin as nice programs, as opposed to elite or upper tier teams. Penn St. even fluxuates up and down the standings for the most part. I happen to think that PSU will be quite mediocre this year.
