Zero surprise here. Unfortunately for us, there is nothing more for him to gain by staying right now. He completely dominated in college in his first season whether the fools on the Hobey committee realized it or not; to grow as a player, he needs a new challenge. Good for him. Glad we got to see him.

Not true. He could stay to "get his degree", write a cheesy narrative humble-bragging about said decision, win the Hobey Baker as a result, become a free agent, tell Winnipeg to go F themselves, and go somewhere with better "off ice opportunities."

Next season will be depressing as hell. The mental lapses and breakdowns on defense will still be there, but Michigan won't have an amazing scoring line to carry them into the tournament.
