Kliff Kingsbury could play a series in Texas Tech spring game
Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury does not have any NCAA eligibility left to use, but that will not stop him from potentially taking some snaps for a series in Texas Tech’s upcoming spring game. The shallow depth at the quarterback position could be inspiring the decision as well...

Can't lie...if I were an TTU fan, I would love this.
Looks like a circus sideshow or lame publicity stunt (which TT has been doing a lot of as of late). Your head coach should be coaching. I could maybe understand if it was a graduate assistant or the QB coach, but not your head coach.
Eh, the spring game is for the fans. If it weren't, they wouldn't make it public. I think this kind of stuff is just fun. Us having our alumni game isn't that far off, considering how young Kingsbury is.
You can pretty much say technically everything is "for the fans." This is just another lame publicity stunt by the Texas Tech Athletic Department which is watching its football program fall to fourth in the state pecking order behind Baylor now. They need to concentrate on their actual team and try to win some games instead. For instance:
For those who don't like this, imagine that Denard came back as an assistant coach and was asked to play a series or two in the spring game. Would you think it was "cheesy" or "lame" then?
The spring game is to watch our future team play. I can live with what Nebraska did with their "Make a Wish" play with the child cancer patient, but I don't see why we would need former legends out there playing. It would be like sending Barry Sanders out there to play in an NFL exhibition game. Or a better example may be Jim Harbaugh playing QB for the 49ers in an NFL exhibition game instead of actually coaching.
years ago, when we were thin at QB too. Our OC had played QB at wyoming and was an excellent OC, mid to late 30's and in very good physical shape. he'd occasionally play for the scout team offense and of course nobody would actually hit him, but he had the tools if we'd needed him. at the time 'we' meant our law enforcement football team, playing other teams from around the country - police, fire, corrections teams. lot of fun and raised a boatload of money for charity over the years.
Well we are a little thin on the defensive line....
do see hoke as a nose or more of a 3-tech?
no question. and a loud one at that.
given his extra winter weight and everpresent indigestion during press conferences hoke is NT no doubt
If nothing else, the latter part of the article mentions something that is interesting anyway - there probably is not a better way to actually see what you're coaching than to put yourself in the play. Of course, this might be convenient for Kingsbury being younger as coaches go as well as a being a former QB himself, but thought of in those terms, I suppose I could see the value in it.
I'm excited.
When I saw just how thin the QB depth was, this made a lot more sense. TTU only has one QB right now, so I could see why Kliff might run a series or two.
But he's so full of himself...it's all about HIM.
He even picks the jersey combinations every game and has to have a say in their design.
