I like where your head's at.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:50 PM ^
I call mine Mr and Mrs Tennerman chili.
Gotta go with a budweiser product for game day. Today will probably be Bud Light.
September 5th, 2009 at 2:00 PM ^
Yesss! Yesss!! The tears of unfathomable sadness!! They are so yummy and sweet!!
September 5th, 2009 at 11:38 AM ^
I usually tend to go polar opposites on game day beer.
Pabst Blue Ribbon is a must for me. But I always take advantage of this time of the year and drink Oktoberfest brews for the college football season. Stoudt's Oktoberfest and Avery's Imperial Oktoberfest are my choices for today.
September 5th, 2009 at 11:43 AM ^
I LOVE THE KAISER! (Avery's imperial oktoberfest) Many +1's to you sir.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:31 PM ^
+1
Kaiser is quite delicious.
I think I'm going to layer some of The Czar Imperial Stout on The Kaiser Imperial Oktoberfest and call it IVAN THE TERRIBLE.
Mostly cause it will taste terrible as those two beers do not belong together but fun nonetheless.
September 5th, 2009 at 11:40 AM ^
Whenever I buy beer, I try to get something that I haven't had before.
But, for buying a 6 pack for game day, I would probably have to say Blue Moon's Honey Moon Beer.
September 5th, 2009 at 11:42 AM ^
Depends the weather. Early in the season when its hot out (at least in my area), it's Shiner Bock or St. Arnold's Lawnmower. If it's cool out, I'll go with Sam Adam's Oktoberfest, or some other cheap Oktoberfest. If I'm indoors, it could be any of those three.
September 5th, 2009 at 11:50 AM ^
Today will be the very refreshing Lager of the Lakes from Bell's, but as it turns cold we'll move into some porters and stouts.
Then, if the game goes poorly and I plow through my gameday six pack of good stuff I drink whatever swill is on sale.
September 5th, 2009 at 11:42 AM ^
Whatever people give me. Technically I cant legally drink untill the 19th so right now its whatever people generously offer to me.
September 5th, 2009 at 11:45 AM ^
I am trying the 55 calorie bud select today. I have what doctors call a little bit of a weight problem.
Hope it doesn't suck
September 5th, 2009 at 11:47 AM ^
I'm sorry.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:05 PM ^
you will just drink more of the beer, negating the calorie savings. It's just less alcohol.
Your best bet is to drink rum and diet cola or any alcohol with a no calorie mixer.
September 5th, 2009 at 11:49 AM ^
May god have mercy on your palate. May it be better than I've heard and good luck.
September 5th, 2009 at 11:52 AM ^
already a light beer?
September 5th, 2009 at 11:52 AM ^
Whatever is cold; not too picky. Although, I refuse to drink Widmer Hefeweizen. That was my beer during the horror. Never again. Never, ever.
September 5th, 2009 at 11:54 AM ^
Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA
When tailgating, I prefer Miller Lite or PBR
I'm an enigma wrapped in a riddle.
September 5th, 2009 at 11:58 AM ^
90 minute is really good. PBR is an underrated beer. I think it's much better than the standard American macrolagers.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:04 PM ^
Given:
PBR is still an American Pilsener.
American Pilseners are always overrated and never underrated
:. PBR is not underrated
QED

but you get plus one from this philosophy MA for using "QED".
September 5th, 2009 at 11:57 AM ^
I'm trying to drink beer from the opponent's area. So this week, it is Bell's Kalamazoo Stout. It's really good, solid coffee flavor.
At home, I prefer dark, strong beers, but tailgating, light and cold (don't care about the brand as much for light beers, they are all not very good).
September 5th, 2009 at 12:10 PM ^
For the ND game, I'd recommend the Mishawaka Brewing Company over the Back Road Brewery or any of the other locals. Their distribution sucks, though.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:02 PM ^
I like to stay close to home, help supporting the economy and drink something brewed in Michigan. Bell's, Founders, New Holland
September 5th, 2009 at 12:09 PM ^
that I was in a frat when I say Natty light (or ice) FTW.
If we're talking actual beers I like Fat Tire. Good but you can still drink a decent amount of them without getting too full.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:50 PM ^
Fat Tire is only available in western states. If you have found it in Michigan, please let me know.
I always bring a case back with me when I go backcountry boarding in CO.
September 5th, 2009 at 1:07 PM ^
I've had it as far east as Chicago that I can remember. I thought I'd had it in Ohio as well.
September 5th, 2009 at 7:46 PM ^
Yea I live in Chicago now and it's available all over the place here. I just graduated in May so I may be getting confused but I thought I had it in Ann Arbor as well. I'm going to the game next week so when I stop at Meijer/Campus Corner I'll look for it.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:10 PM ^
Bell's Porter.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:12 PM ^
to drink cheap on gamedays. Wandering into the higher ABVs can be dangerous. Who knows, though. Maybe I'll crack something special later on. Breakfast Stout, Dark Lord, Plead the 5th....I have options.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:17 PM ^
of football drinking it has to be Labbat Blue
September 5th, 2009 at 12:46 PM ^
One of my fondest memories of a Michigan football game was the time that I drove to A2 from DC after college (must have been '93ish). A buddy of mine still in A2 had gotten 4 free tickets from some raffle. We checked out where they were and they were in about the second row in the endzone.
So my buddy got up early, scalped the tickets, and brought back 2 cases of Labatt's Blue and 50 (yes, 50) cheeseburgers. We drank and ate our way through the whole mess, and enjoyed a UM win in the comfort of my buddy's living room.
Hence, I will always have fond memories of Labatt's Blue.
September 6th, 2009 at 12:07 AM ^
But I wanted something different for today. Kickoff the new season with a new beer, though not meant to replace the Blue. Lately, I've been enjoying different Belgian beers when I'm out, so I went out on a limb and bought a bottle of La Chouffe from the Achouffe Brewery. It did not disappoint.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:42 PM ^
Bell's Two Hearted. and this is absolutely on topic.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:50 PM ^
+1 for good taste.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:54 PM ^
+1 definitely one of the best IPA's out there
September 5th, 2009 at 1:05 PM ^
Can't stand beer. Sorry.
Vokda: Ciroc > Kettle > Grey Goose. Ciroc is the only vodka I can drink straight on the rocks.
Whiskey (Mixed malts): 20+ years > 15 years >> Gentlemans Jack > Crown > Chivas > Black Label > Jack Daniels: Single Barrel.
Tequila: Petron >> 1800. All other Tequillas kinda suck IMHE.
My distaste for beer makes tailgaiting interesting as I have to lug around a 20 lb cooler at all times. Also, I have yet to find a liquor stand at Redskins stadium. Found one at the Wizards/Caps arena though.
September 5th, 2009 at 1:09 PM ^
I am not a big drinker, (a 6 pack will last a month or 2 for me) so when I drink I drink (what I consider to be the good stuff) Sam Adams. I like Boston Lager, Cherry Wheat, (and if you have never had their cherry wheat I strongly reccommend it to any and all) (it has a hint of a cherry flavor but not sweet like you would think when you think of cherry, it is more like they get the flavor from the pulp of the tree) or which ever seasonal flavor they have. If I had to drink something that was not at least to that level I just won't drink.
September 5th, 2009 at 1:14 PM ^
Bass, Harp, and Guinness are my gameday trio.
September 5th, 2009 at 1:23 PM ^
Last year it was whatever eased the pain. Hopefully this year I can eactually taste my beer before it goes down the hatch.
September 5th, 2009 at 1:42 PM ^
Last year = quantity
This year, hopefully = quality
September 5th, 2009 at 1:33 PM ^

Sierra Nevada early on, PBR once the SN runs out.
Possibly rubbing alcohol, depending upon the score.
September 5th, 2009 at 1:44 PM ^
A good Alt for this perfect late summer game day.
I am drinking a homebrew that really turned out nice.
Arbor Brew has a nice Alt, as well.
September 5th, 2009 at 2:04 PM ^
Varies from week to week, but today Sam Adams Oktoberfest.
Bell's would be great but I don't think it's sold down here. (I've never seen it, I live in NC)
September 5th, 2009 at 2:33 PM ^
I found it in the panhandle of florida last year at a supermarket. You might try asking a local beer store to special order some. For all they know, they could have a hit on their hands.
September 5th, 2009 at 4:34 PM ^
Chicago thing...
Goose Island - Honker's Ale
(Check it out, it's the best!)
September 5th, 2009 at 5:36 PM ^
Honker's is a solid one for year round, but their 312 is a great summer beer.
