Is Kickoff for The Game exactly at Noon?

Submitted by rs207200 on
I know all the websites say 12p, but I feel like this game sometimes starts at 1215 or 1230. (Sadly, these extra 15 or 30 minutes make a big deal for me today due to a personal obligation this morning that I have to attend)

Have you ever, in your entire life, seen a contest in ANY sport (USA) start before some cars and trucks and Doritos get sold? That’s prime advertising real estate. Unlike the end of a game when people may have tuned out. Everyone is pumped and ready to go. Well, real fans are anyway! Sorry you have a conflict. I’m decid whether to stay up until 3:30 am watching or catch the recordings ng on my sling box in the morning. Hard to stay in the bubble these days even half way around the world. Go. Blue!

Actually, yeah. A lot of mid-season ESPN “noon” kicks actually do seem to kick exactly at noon (or really darn close). Like if you turn it on ten seconds after noon you’ve missed the kick noon. Fox games tend to have a good bit of a lead in, though.

It's on Fox, right? You have to factor in at least a few minutes for the producer to get some good shots of Wannstedt's mustache, then a commercial, then another mustache shot while he talks about being a Miami guy, so probably closer to 12:10 PM or so.

College games almost never start right on time. It is something that has always bothered me. Pro games seem to start pretty close to the right time, but college games tend to be about 15 minutes or so late.
