I never saw Thomas redshirting. People said he was too small, but Washington is listed as the same weight Thomas is...just 2" taller.

I just would prefer Thomas be CB #5 who gets some reps and by the end of the year he's earning decent PT. It's going to be interesting.

We could end up making these UF QBs look better than they are and Hayden Moore at Cincinnati is no joke.

That said, beat UF and you should be 6-0 going into Happy Valley. That's October 21st - exactly 2 months from today. If we can't get our shit together in 2 months...then it wasn't meant to be with this group. That is plenty of time for young guys to get better and go from freshman to sophomores if they're actually getting live game reps. That's 1/2 the season.

Just survive UF without making one of these fuckers look like a Heisman finalist. Hayden Moore is going to get his against this group, but it's a team game. Besides that...we should have 4 games to really settle in - everyone but Watson is still in experienced. That will be plenty of snaps.

2 months, boys. Get your shit together.

At this point, I'm sure it's all about making sure the CBs know the plays and don't improvise, because with this DL they'll be facing a lot of hot reads and perceived isolation. No heroes. No baiting the quarterback. Just make sure early pressure means a jump ball at best. Don't want all that DL goodness to turn into six points when it meant a ridiculously low completion percentage last year. I hate seeing someone with that height and speed leave the mix, though. I would have been surprised if he didn't get a lot of playing time this year.

That might be the whole reason. Taken in isolation, this looks to me like Washington is getting passed by younger guys. Sees the writing on the wall, decides to go somewhere he can contribute. This is new college football, where such things are more common and accepted. And, frankly, is something I think the staff is ok with.

Now I'm a little happier Callaway is suspended.

Get through this first game with QB's who aren't proving it in game and a depleted WR group and our your guys have a couple more games to get their shit together.

Like all dudes, the dude wants to start.

Could be he saw the writing on the wall that it was not going to happen here, and so he wants to go somewhere that it will.  Cannot blame him for that if that is the reason.  So this is not necessarily bad news.  Might mean he does not ever see himself ahead of the younguns.

Good luck to him in any case!

Yeah, Washington probably came into camp with all good intentions to compete, but then saw that things weren't working out. He may not want to be buried on the depth chart and let his eligibility get ate up. We might as well get ready for guys transferring more often because that happens a lot when a program starts bringing in many top recruits every year. Some of the kids already on the team just won't be able to beat out some of the new top recruits for playing time. Therefore they decide to leave.

And that means what? Josh Uche's twitter is the same way. And Keith Washington's twitter page still has his Michigan banner up. Don't try to read too much into a teenager's social media page (or read them at all). Twitter follows are usually the only enlightening things I get off their pages, especially when transferring. Might as well use one of these:

I was hoping for big things from an emerging "Prattville Pipeline".

All the best to him for the future and I hope that he views his time in Ann Arbor as a positive experience.

We have a shot with any of these guys?

...or still not interested in Kalon Gervin?

They very well may add another cb, though the only one on that list with any connection to Michigan is Taylor-Stuart.  The most likely is Chris Smith, a UGA commit who posted a picture on twitter when he recieved an official offer from Michigan on August 1st (the first day actual offers went out).  There is also Josh Jobe who is committed to Miami but is being heavily recruited by both Alabama and Michigan, he was a take the entire time, but going head to head to flip a committed kid against Alabama is a tall order.

KW had a nice spring game, looked very committed with the offseason weight gain, and he always represented UM well. I was very hopeful that a 6'2" CB with sub 4.5 speed could man one of the islands. He will be missed. The secondary depth chart will be interesting for UF with the comments by Zordich and this announcement.

About camp noises except for verified injuries and deficiencies. If a player chooses to leave absent disciplinary issues then he perceives three guys, at least, are superior to him on the field. That's not a bad thing.

Well, all I can say is that if our pets' heads are falling off, my dog and my three cats clearly are either too stupid to realize that their heads should be falling off or they have not logged into their own accounts today. Having seen the news myself, however, I will let them know and then monitor their condition.

Hmmm perhaps this is why Zordich seemed to be in a bad mood today? The assumption here would be that Washington has fallen down the depth chart but given the uncertainty at the DB position that would be surprising. He essentially would be only one injury or poor play away from being a starter. There has to be something else going on.

If you watch the presser, he's not in a bad mood at all. I think Zordich didn't actually name Washington a starter (maybe named somebody else or nobody) and Washington saw he was passed by 1+ true Freshman and so he bounced. In any case, any of the sites that said Washington was locking it down or was the likely 2nd CB was making it up.
