1-4 against Michigan (including the loss to HOKE!)
1-4 against MSU
1-4 against OSU
I'm feeling more confident saying Moorhead saved his job 2 years ago. They wee 7-6 two years in a row and without the offense exploding in 2016, they wouldn't have been much better the last 2 years.
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:33 PM ^
Moorhead made PSU look like an offensive dynamo that allowed Franklin to recruit at a higher level as well.
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:35 PM ^
I think he's legitimately a good recruiter. He brought in Saquon Barkley and all those other guys they had last year. He needs a coordinator like Moorhead to get the most out of the them though.
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:45 PM ^
THEY GOT SOme (sorry, I was yelling elsewhere) good young talent on the team right now, with more to come. They're like the Notre Dame of the East.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:10 PM ^
He’s definitely a good recruiter, but you don’t beat Michigan/Harbaugh for high 4 stars with the dogshit they brought today - no matter how good he is.
November 3rd, 2018 at 10:04 PM ^
No one is giving Barkley enough credit here. The guy is almost as tough to defend in the NFL as a rookie running back. How were college defenses going to do against him?
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:32 PM ^
He's the Les Miles of the Big Ten. Good recruiter, terrible gameday coach, totally dependent on coordinators to save his bacon.
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
I literally said this to one of my friends who is a Penn State grad today. I couldn't agree more, obviously. I guess they need to find the Coach O of the Big Ten?

November 3rd, 2018 at 7:52 PM ^
DICK much?
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:43 PM ^
Coach O of the Big Ten? That would Bo Pelini, right?
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:52 PM ^
Bobby Bowden is the poster child for this.
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
I agree with this sentiment. Or, hopefully, he takes the OSU job after Meyer has his health issues...
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:35 PM ^
He’s lucky he had a once in a career player in Barkley. Or else his record would be even crappier.
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:36 PM ^
Hahaha yes please!!
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:36 PM ^
The new QB Stevens is gonna be good... Better than McSorley.
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:38 PM ^
Based on a garbage time drive? He also threw a WTF? pick in the 4th quarter.
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:42 PM ^
That's called sarcasm.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:00 PM ^
Sadly I don't think it is, that poster consistently has terrible opinions.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:32 PM ^
You need to be more sarcastic for it to come through in print
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:42 PM ^
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:44 PM ^
That new QB is in his 4th season at PSU.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:57 PM ^
Yep we saw his ceiling today which included throwing exactly to a michigan player.
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:44 PM ^
This is the same revisionist BS you heard about Rocky Lombardi. Stevens is a large guy who can run a bit; I DARE Franklin to make him the whole offense.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:12 PM ^
Better than their best QB in modern times? No.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:58 PM ^
I remember when Morelli and Hackenberg were going to be their saviors as well.
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:36 PM ^
James Franklin has a lot of John Cooper in him.
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:43 PM ^
Worse.. He's PSU's Brady Hoke..
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:00 PM ^

you quoting football Sulla, mdog?
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:42 PM ^
Harbaugh 3-1 against PSU and Franklin.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:13 PM ^
Franklin is 0-1 against Hoke.
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:47 PM ^
I was disappointed that, on the last drive, Penn State did not face a fourth and 7 or something down around our 10. I really wanted to see if Franklin would have kicked the FG.
November 3rd, 2018 at 7:50 PM ^
Quick moment of righteousness here. After the McSorely INT, Franklin was standing on the opposite side of the players box, away from the team, staring off into la-la land. I yelled "Franklin, you're weak! Stand with your team!"
He then slowly strolled over and stood with them. My friends and I have determined he did hear me, and I influenced his actions.
Heh. Cool story. But really this guy has no control of his sideline and is constantly being checked by his assistant coaches, almost like they are filling him in on the action and coaching him up on how to coach. Its beautiful but also embarrassing.

Don't forget 4m-7
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:14 PM ^
So, after 3 weeks after Frames declared that although not "elite", Penn State is "great". Does 2 losses in those 3 weeks knock it down to sorta, kinda "good"?
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:27 PM ^
He's such a horseshit coach. I love it.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:51 PM ^
Dumbest on-field head coach in the game?
November 3rd, 2018 at 11:06 PM ^
Yes. He tried to decline a delay of game penalty.
November 4th, 2018 at 5:29 AM ^
Declining that delay of game penalty was the right call....then he changed his mind!
Then he has Michigan re-kick after the kickoff went OOB....that was a white surrender flag if I’ve ever seen one.
The best was the timeout he took with a minute to go in the half on 4rh and 17 from midfield. Hey let’s give Michigan some extra time to see if they can score.
Real Man of Genius.
November 4th, 2018 at 1:42 PM ^
How so? Can't Michigan just delay of game again?
November 5th, 2018 at 9:57 AM ^
At the game I was laughing thinking the same thing. I bet one of his assistants pointed that out to him.
I was hoping they would stick with declining it and then Harbaugh trolls him by delaying again. There are no moral victories in declining a delay of game penalty.

November 4th, 2018 at 5:51 AM ^
I see what you did there..... white out.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:30 PM ^
James Franklin is not a worthy adversary.
November 4th, 2018 at 12:05 AM ^
Here's the contrarian view: He's a pretty good, but not great, coach. PSU lost a bunch of high quality starters (which sounds awfully familiar a year ago around here) and lost big. A couple years ago, after a big loss here, PSU beats OSU and ends up winning the B1G. Speaking of the latter... No, I won't until after the end of this month...
Penn State has a good young team. Their defense held Michigan for a while until they got tired. They are going to get better and have their re-revenge tour next year.
November 4th, 2018 at 12:39 AM ^
They are definitely Young and talented, but Saquon Barkley and Joe Moorhead ain't walking through the door.
November 4th, 2018 at 12:47 AM ^
No, but PSU seems to get a steady supply of talent (as others have noted already) and also seem quite capable of developing that talent. Their players also stick around longer than programs such as OSU, or at least that's my observation, which allows them to improve as a team.
