I don't know how to embed a twitter message, but UMHoops posted this.  It was news to me, so I thought I'd pass it on...Also, FWIW, he's listed at 6'8" 213lbs on the game roster.

Yes, looks like an elite shooter.  Granted they don't play defense in this game but still he and Yogi will make for a heck of a backcourt.  Too bad IU has no front court next year.   No idea what he was sold to go to Indiana over Michigan other than video of the Bobby Knight era.  I would say he will outlast Crean at Indiana but in this era he will probably be a 2 and done player.

If McGary came back and we got Kam and Blackmon I say we're in the Elite 8 again.  There I said it.

McGary, Donnal, Irvin, LeVert, Walton Jr,

Bench: Spike, Chatman, Blackmon as the top 8. Chatman and Irvin would be the backup "out of position 4s" for 20-25 minutes a game while Donnal sat or was the 5 for 8 minutes a night.

So anyhow back to Chatman.  He really looks like another stretch 4 candidate out there.  If Mitch comes back and plays 32-33 minutes at the 5, Donnal puts in 15 at the 4, and 7 at the 5, and Chatman can give us 20 at the 4, you assume Irvin and Caris are going to eat up huge minutes at the 2 and 3 (over 30 min each)... things are looking pretty solid there in the front court.  He is bigger (thicker) than I thought - already about the same "width" as GR3 but with 2 additional inches.

In this scenario you are not asking for crazy things from our first year players - 22 minutes out of Donnal and 20 minutes out of Chatman.  Lighter loads than GR3 took as a freshman.  And you ask Mitch, Caris, and Irvin to play minutes that Nik, Caris, and GR3 played this year.  Walton/Spike split the PG as they did this year.  The nights Donnal and/or Mitch get in foul trouble you throw Bielfeldt out there for 7-10 a night.

Dear Mitch - please come back.

I'm watching this game right now solely to see how Chatman performs. I'm glad I saw him score once. There are a lot of talented players on that court though.

He has a few pretty sweet passes in and out of the post in that video.  He truly seems to be a great fit for this team.  If he can break down guys one on one, he can do a lot of things in this offense.  He is going to be a match up nightmare on defense, especially if he is on the floor with say, Wilson or Donnal and another big man.  He will be able to easily shoot over smaller guards, and big men will have to follow him out to the permimeter.  The fun comes when the other team has to guard 2 or 3 guys who are all 6"8 and can shoot 3's.  I dont know how you guard that with most college teams.

What I most like about Chatman's game based on the vids I've seen and the game last night was that he has a knack for working his way into the middle of the floor and making things happen.  He dribbles well for a guy his size and uses his body to shield the ball in a way a lot of younger guys don't have a good feel for yet.  He's also unselfish enough that getting into the paint doesn't automatically mean he's putting the ball up, which again, for guys his age that are used to being the big shot this can be rare.

I think that to take full advantage of this skill set, he'll need to put some work in as far as S&C goes - no biggie, this is common for high school kids making the transition to college ball.  But I think that once his body catches up to his ball skills, he's going to be the type of guy that can hurt a defense in a variety of ways.

...Do you guys believe me when I say Chatman is more of a 4 in Belein's offense than a 2?

He's a SF, but he's more likely to play "up" than "down."
