He would be a fool to go anywhere other than Oklahoma, especially if he can get cleared to play next year (not sure the possibility of that occurring).

Riley takes in transfers and makes them Heisman winners. Easy to see why Fields would consider this route.

They have a 5* incoming for 2019 but no one on campus has an inside track.

Day has the absolute confidence of Fields’ off-season QB coach, who also happens to train Haskins and said yesterday that “any QB who can play for Ryan Day should do it”

Martell isn’t a Day recruit. If OSU pursues Fields it probably means Martell bails.

surprised he only gave it one year....seems a bit, i don't know, premature?

heck of a talent though... hope he picks Oklahoma. 2 Heisman winners in 2 years is a pretty unbelievable endorsement of what Riley is doing on offense.

It's so strange that he ended up at UGA in the first place with Jake Fromm there.  I wonder how much influence bagmen have on these decisions.  And I know it's 17 year old kids making decisions, but they presumably have adults helping them.  I guess he (and his family) got $50K to go to UGA and can now get another $50K to go to Ohio State or Florida or Auburn.

Nothing.

Georgia recruits at a different level than Michigan, so this isn't a big deal.

Michigan can't really afford to lose one of the three 5-star players they have recruited in the Harbaugh era.

Georgia probably can afford to lose one of the 19 5-start players they have recruited in the same period of time.

You know, at least try to not copy-paste the same thing everywhere.  See my other responses, but when they only have recruited a 3* dual threat kid in this class and don't have any other top-notch players at QB after Fromm onboard, losing the #1 QB recruit from last year is probably a big deal.

What I don't understand is what your big concern is here.  The state of Georgia produces a TON of top-notch talent.  Georgia, the big state school in said state, gets a lot of it.  But they don't recruit on a different level than Michigan, and even if they did they've done so for decades now and it hasn't translated into some dynasty.

Again, I don't get your game here.  Yes, losing Solomon sucks, and I wish him luck.  But Michigan will survive.  They didn't have him for much of this season and they had a pretty good defense; my guess is they'll figure out a way to compensate.

Yeah, they had a good defense, right up until they had to play a healthy talented team. Remember how that turned out? Edit: Also, wasn't it the loss of Solomon that allowed Ohio State to double team the DEs? Him not being there was a big reason as to why the team wasn't able to get any pressure.

And at least try to be right when being condescending. Georgia's 2019 QB is a 4-star, top 300 player. Not a 3-star player like you've "COPY-PASTE(D) EVERYWHERE".

Like I said, he's a 3* to 247, not the composite.  And that composite score is mostly due to the ESPN outlier, where he's 148th overall.  To rivals and 247, he's a middling 3* athlete they sorta-view as a dual-threat QB.  Plus, he may not be signing with Georgia, so they might not even have him.  It would have required you to read the words and not just react blindly, so I can see why you missed it.

Also, Solomon has been out most of the season; he played a small bit against Indiana and looked hobbled.  Michigan has been working without him for most of the year and found a way to slow down basically every other offense they faced, including those that looked a hell of a lot better against everyone else than they did against Michigan.

Oh okay, let's use the ranking that literally no one uses except for the religious subscribers to that site. Let's avoid the rankings that everyone else uses, including the very site you are on right now. Makes a ton of sense.

Keep flailing. Now it's "Actually, Solomon wasn't even important, the defense was great all year* without him and they will be fine next year". Sure,  move those goal posts. Let's pretend like the 5-star sophomore who flashed the most talent in the middle wouldn't be a huge piece of next year's line.

* Please ignore the entire OSU game where Michigan was unable to get any pressure up the middle allowing OSU to double the DEs.

Wow way too much tarik black rumors out there right now. I wonder why our "insiders" have nothing to say on this...unless its 100% false, which i doubt.

James Hudson, Drew Singleton, Aubrey Solomon, Justin Fields.

The more I think about it, it's not "corruption" within our programs that's the issue.

The issue is we are in a generation of millenial athletes who feel entitled to get immediate playing time instead of having to work through the process of earning it.

That mindset, plus the fact that the new NCAA transfer rules and redshirt rules make it easier to move to different schools now adds a dimension of difficulty for coaches who can recruit well, but can't guarantee immediate playing time.

Hopefully this will be the exception than the norm for us Good Guys.

One more thing to add as well: reading stories of today's athletes who left early for greener pastures makes me appreciate Tom Brady even more.

For those of you remember, Brady was so frustrated by a lack of playing time that he nearly left but decided to stick around...only to have to compete against uber athlete Drew Henson during his redshirt JR and SR years.

To this day, Brady credits his mental toughness to those years in Michigan where he had to wait, compete and excel against competition. What he lacks in physical skills, he more than compensates with ice-cold assassin mental toughness. It is no surprise to me then, that Brady will go down as the GOAT when all is said and done.

Of course not every situation where a person stays instead of leaves ends up resulting in playing time. But I wonder if the development of principles such as commitment, loyalty, perseverance and mental toughness get compromised when kids take the easy way out to greener pastures.

My initial thoughts on Fields attempting to gain immediate eligibility (according to an earlier post) were to assume that he'd probably use the racial incident as justification for wanting to transfer. Another student/athlete at Georgia yelled a racial slur at Fields during an early season game. Something like that can seriously affect a teenager's perspective and lessen his desire to stay in the immediate environment where the offense occurred.

Having that happen at such an impressionable age can substantially shatter and alter your worldview. Hopefully, the young man maintains an optimism and equilibrium concerning race relations in our country. And, uhh, hopefully he doesn't go to Ohio State Actually, FSU would be a good landing spot for him. It's not too far from home. Willie Taggart may be able to help the young man from feeling embittered. And, they need an infusion of offensive dynamism.

I agree with many of the arguments that the program's perception does really shape the narrative. But just objectively, Solomon was a guy at a position of need. Michigan is probably left with freshman on the two-deep. Even putting aside the blue chip aspect, there are ominous depth issues.

OMG!  Georgia is imploding!  Some other players who transferred out implied in tweets that THEY DIDN'T WANT TO STAY IN THE PROGRAM!  There is probably giant disfunctionality in the locker room -- coach vs. coach, coaches vs. players, player vs. player, all at each others' throats.  Factions!  Bitter feuds!  Simmering hatred!  MAYBE RACISM!  Whatever it is, it is certainly dark and ominous.  Things don't look good for Georgia.  I see most of their players fleeing the sinking ship in the near future.

Not only that, but they didn't make it into the national championship.  This is probably the last year for Coach Smart.  He's paid too much not to win a national championship, the miserable bum!  They should fire him and hire a coach from the Guaranteed to Win a Natty(TM) Coach Vending Machine.  Punch in your dough -- get your Natty!

Kyle Rowland of the Toledo Blade reporting that Ohio State is the "front runner" for Justin Fields. "Sources" cite his appreciation of Ryan Day as a QB developer as the leading reason.
