Just noticed the final landing spots
of former UM commits from Ohio Leonard Taylor and Antwuan Johnson.
Remember when we thought they might have been big losses?
Taylor ended up being rated #30 in Ohio and going to Cincy while Johnson slipped to #60 and is at BGSU.
Yathink maybe the staff might have backed off them a bit?
Why were their commitments accepted in the first place.
Gee idk, maybe because they were probably really good earlier in their high school careers and just didn’t continue to develop...
uh huh, sure.
Yeah, it happens all the time. For fucks sake, Harbaugh pulled a scholarship from a committed recruit (Swenson) for this exact reason.
I kinda wish we had him for last year....
I was wondering about them. Weren't they consensus top 150 guys as sophomores?
I think Taylor was a borderline 5* and Johnson a solid 4* when they committed (which was early in the cycle IIRC).
An OSU friend gave me a rash at the time and said they would commit to OSU but I lost track of them..
A real friend would have warned you about the rash situation beforehand.
One can anticipate rashes when interacting with OSU fans -- comes with the turf!
*groan*
No offense OP, but let’s just focus on who’s on our roster.
Wish the KIDS luck and move on.
I have to agree with Blue Carcajou. Schadenfruede for kids who de-committed, especially as a thread, is in poor-taste. It's like the coaches say, "I only talk about players who play for Michigan."
It's not about schadenfreude. It's interesting to know where former commits go and how they do once they get there. It's true for successful guys like Jake Fisher and unsuccessful guys like Dee Hart. If you enjoy following the sport there's room for thinking about guys on other teams.
I saw the title
...and was looking forward to reading about the two cancelled Apollo lunar missions.
Surely one of them was headed for Alpha Centauri, right? I always thought they were part of NASA's ditched "Let's Just Do This Damn First Contact Thing" program.
Both Cincy and BGSU have sent guys to the NFL. These two just may continue the trend. I wish both of them luck.
Although not properly outlined, my laugh was more on my OSU troll friend. I was actually pretty jazzed about Leonard's commitment as his film looked awesome and wonder what happened.
His decommitment was part of a series that reflected badly on M. Aubrey Solomon and a 3* guard (Jalil? somebody) also decommitted in a 24 hour period. AS was the one that really hurt because of our need and how soon his enrollment was coming. Leonard was the other one that hurt because he did look so good at the time but there were years to find a substitute for him. It seems that everything worked out.
Bad title but I admit I find the information interesting.
