Just A Hypothetical Idea

As we all know a lot has changed in Michigan Stadium. The seats, the new suite boxes and the field itself. It's gone through grass, then to tartan turf and finally converted to regular present day field turf. The field is actually a very classic and simple design. A logo in the middle and the university's name on both endzones. Within those endzones we all know that the word MICHIGAN is printed on in maize paint. Now I know schools like Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio State, Florida, Alambama ect use the "filled in" endzone style now on their fields. Would you be upset to see Michigan decide to paint the endzone blue with maize lettering or do you want it to stay the same style for the future? In my opinion I like it the way it is because it resembles a classical and original football field theme.

from the student section. Now, I miss seeing marshmallows in the end zone during televised games. For traditions sake, maybe some white dots for us nostalgic viewers at home?

I think Ohio State only recently filled in their endzone, according to Google Image results. I wish Michigan had something iconic on their field, like Tennessee's endzone or (gulp), Notre Dame's simplicity.

No changes necessary. Keep it classy San Diego (Whale's Vagina). If you must change it, I'd probably rather see the endzone go yellow with MICHIGAN written in blue. It would contrast better with the rest of the field.

I actually liked the logoless midfield when they had grass. It took me a while to get used to the M once the turf was installed. No to filled-in endzones. . . It only looks cool at the Rose Bowl, where I hope to see it again soon.

How about they change all the green turf to maize turf and make the lines blue. Then make the endzones blue turf with maize writing. Then once we do this we can have a maize out with maize jerseys and inverted maize helmets with blue wingtips. Ok ok I am just kidding. I like the field the way it is but I wouldn't care if they filled in the endzones with blue.

Are they really that tough to deal with? The whole point it was something ridiculous to throw on the field that has no chance of hurting anyone. I can see if its like an early September game and its close to 100 degrees on the turf then picking up a ton of melted marashmallows on plastic grass could get messy. Maybe make a temperature cutoff, you can only throw them if it's colder than 70 degrees (which is about the time when the important games are anyway).

I like the filled in end zones maize with blue writing. Gives it a complete feel like you nade it to the end zone it should be different. Also, maybe it will help our db's to notice they are in the end zone and they have to start shrinking the 10yd cushion. By the way Florida and Alabama do not fill their end zones in. LSU is my favorite field with the extra numbers and filled in zones and sidelines.

I like it how it is... They almost always use a blue fill when we go to bowl games, and I think its neat to think of that design as being reserved for them. It would not break my heart if they changed it though, as I do think it looks good. The block M must stay as it is though. Its a nice, simple school logo that I think complements the pregame fabulously and looks just plain awesome the rest of the time.

Would be acceptable to me. Honestly, as long as you don't have corporate sponsor's logos on the field, I think I'm pretty fine - or some ridiculous looking Wolverine. I haven't seen the design in a while, but you used to see some schools have a repeating pattern of diamond shaped patterns that would stretch from the goal line to the backline in the endzone. Kind of unique. What about a maize field, and then having at least one game a year with alternate jerseys in a maize color ... okay seriously no!! I'm just kidding about that.

I would like the filled-in endzones. The Rose Bowl feel will be nice to reminisce about because we are only going to that stadium once in every four years, and not for the Rose Bowl either .

M on the 50 yard line could be described as a "classic" design. The block M came in some time after 92 - 93. I like the classic, clean look of a football field with no logo on it, even the beloved block M. MICHIGAN in the end zones, however, I think has been around a long time, and I would consider that "classic". One cannot ignore the power of the dollar these days, and though I am glad Michigan has resisted advertising in the stadium, I don't know that they can resist forever.
