Just curious....is Mattison a good coordinator?

Submitted by ademock27 on

I dont really know much about Mattison other than he coached previously with Hoke and has been the dc at Mich, ND, and with the ravens.  However, how much of his success with the Ravens is because of him (they have just a little defensive talent on that team)?  What were his defenses like at the college level?

*Just to note...I am every excited about Mattison as our new dc

The losses that year

Baltimore hired him on a whim and the dude just picks his nose on the sidelines.  Ray Lewis does most of the playcalling.  "Fuck Shit Up Left/Right"  "Ed Reed heart and soul sex cannon turnover" and "Ngata gonna work here anymore Blitz" are literally the only 3 plays they run.

and instead point to Mich. '95-97, UF in the mid-late '00s, and the Ravens who have kept it steady under him.

That should answer your question.

Isn't his UF experience more impressive than the Ravens? Lewis, Reed, Ngata and Suggs were all pro bowl players for years before GM showed up two years ago. But his UF performance seems more on point, in that he molded young men into an aggressive, attacking D that produced prodigious numbers, especially with respect to turnovers.
