School begins investigation into issues that could cause NCAA sanctions --> Rutgers officials see a draft of the report --> Rutgers officials summon an ominous meeting with the AD.

Yeah, seems like Piscataway is about to go up in flames.

I mean if even half the shit alleged in the linked article is true it's almost like Flood WANTED to get fired so he could collect the buyout.  Talk about lack of institutional control.

BTW - the fact that Flood even HAS a buyout should be reason enough to fire Hermann.  Talk about putting a guard up to ensure nobody steals your steaming hot pile of poop.

That Rutgers is putting together a lengthy report about misconduct under Flood likely means that they're going to fire him for cause and try to avoid paying the buyout.

Call it "the Beckman."

I still have no idea why they didn't fire him with the professor/grade issue. He was on thin ice before then and here you have a horrible set of facts that would enable you to easily fire him for cause, yet thy only suspended him. Makes no sense.

It's hard to imagine it happening to a coach that was winning. He'd have a strong case that it was an excuse to get out of paying his buyout. Investigating the program and AD seems like a good idea regardless. They would have gained very little by firing him sooner. Now their terrible AD will have no role in hiring his successor.

Rutgers athletic director Julie Hermann is expected to meet with university President Robert Barchi before the end of the weekend, three people familiar with the situation told NJ Advance Media on Friday. The meeting, presumably called by Barchi, is the first evidence the university's administration is preparing to act.

You mean that there was a point at which the powers that e at Rutgers might get tired of being known as the resident managerial tire fire in the Big Ten? Interesting that it took them this long to look as if they might have finally had enough.

Good.

Some people get fired because they're just bad coaches. It happens. Not everyone is cut out for their job.

But some are just not good people in general. Neither Hermann nor Flood have demonstrated a high level of ethics in their careers. Neither of them should be allowed to coach or work around students again.
