After the Clemson game, I was leaning towards wanting to move on from the JT Barrett era. I know that sounds kind of selfish seeing as he's the record holder for just about every passing record at OSU and was a key player in our NC run, but it felt like he plateaud this year.

Ever since we made the new offensive coaching hires, my attitude has changed and I'm excited to see what he can do under a new regime. Make no mistake, when he's been successful, it was not a mirage. If you watch film from the 2014 Michigan State game, it was one of the most accurate and crisp games I had seen from an OSU QB since Troy Smith. Yes, he had NFL talent around him, but the throws he made were still wildly impressive. He has regressed since Tom Herman left, there is no doubt about that and this regression has also run parallel with the mass exodus of offensive talent to the NFL.

I'm still not sure what he is at this point. I think at a minimum, he is a fantastic leader who can get it done when he has the necessary talent. I don't quite think he's someone who is necessarily going to make those around him better, but I could be wrong. Our offensive scheme as a whole was terrible this season, so as I said, I think a new slate will do him well and hopefully get him on the right track.

months ago, this guy was being touted as a Heisman finalist. I've never been impressed with his passing credentials and yet Herby and other Buckeyes claimed he was the second coming to Terrelle Pryor, which is true, another guy who couldn't pass but beat Michigan like a drum.

Name the last successful Buckeye qb to start in the NFL? I think you have to go back to Mike Tomzcak. Seriously, no quarterback under their most successful regimes and even Heisman winners have ever made it to the NFL.

It used to be under Carr, that whomever Michigan started at qb was destined to start in the show. Every qb starter under Carr at least got an NFL start in the league. That has never been true in Buckeyeland.

Michigan has spawned legends of the game from their '97 team in the pros. The Buckeyes have produced a lot of great players over the years in the NFL on both sides of the ball, but never at quarterback. And it doesn't matter who their coach has been.

a Bucks fan, as soon as I was done scrubbing toilets at work, I wouldn't be thrilled. I think JT has hit his ceiling though and I'd hope Urban encourages him to go the route of Braxton Miller ...for his NFL career of course.

Welcome back, Rat Buck!

I recall making this statement when you said you came on MGoBlog after the Orange Bowl to get your daily dose of Wolverine tears:

That's some big talk for somebody that has to watch his team go up against one of last year's NC finalists with 48%-passer JT Barrett as his QB.

How dem tears taste now?

Rumor has it that he came back for another pair of gold pants. I don't see anymore gold pants in his future unless Urban gives them out like participation trophies.

Where else is he gonna go? He has no future in the NFL as a QB unless he does a full 180 on his passing skills, and Herman already has a guy or two on his roster that can run his offense.

So much talk about his NFL career and how much he'll suck,  but the only thing Urban Meyer cares about is what he can do for him in college. And what he can do in college isn't good for us. Mobile qb's will always be Michigan's achilles heel. Watching the Clemson game was really frustrating because of how easy they made it look, and yet Michigan has been trying to figure it out forever.
