You've had contact with Bacon in the past. Do you know if he's stayed in touch with Rich post "Three and out"? If so, do you think they'll discuss the Arizona situation and how that contrasts to what when on here when he was hired?

I haven't talked to John since the announcment in Tucson. I expect that they will talk about it today. I'll also be at an event with him on the 7th, and he'll probably talk about it then. He's back from the road and he'll be doing a lot of local book promotions in early December.

Coach Rodriguez on Tuesday night here in Columbus. He has not talked to coach in 4 months. Rich was not happy with how the book portrayed him. John has stuck to his principles of providing the truth as he saw it in the 3 years.

Rich was not happy? I'm sorry, but I am surprised by that. I thought the book was kind to Rich Rod. It explicitly said he was a good man who made mistakes, but was really let down by numerous people in the Michigan family. If he isn't willing to concede he made mistakes than he is doomed to repeat them. That's Airzona's problem now.

and still not like how he was portrayed in many instances. It's unavoidable that an observer isn't going to understand everything they see. No matter how fair you are trying to be, when talking about another person's thoughts and intentions you're going to make some incorrect guesses.
If it had been a collaborative effort as originally planned, then Rodriguez would have the opportunity to present his point of view. Having lost that, it's not surprising he'd be unhappy about some things he thought Bacon got wrong.

I saw Bacon in Cleveland the day before you did, on Monday. He told me shortly after he walked in that he had just received a text from RR's sister confirming that RR had taken the Arizona job. I did not get the impression that he had had a rift with RR.
I agree with many of the other commenters that he was portrayed fairly well (although obviously human).
He did mention that RR was entitled to review the book in advance and comment as to factual accuracy (although not a veto power over the text).

It is surprising that Coach Rodriguez would feel that way about 3 and O because the book paints him in probably the most positive light possible following the 3 year debacle by all involved... then again he never was the most thick-skinned guy... still 3 and O is definitely slanted RRs side and Bacon has come out with many comments supporting RR in the media......... hell 3 weeks after the book came out RR gets a job, which IMO is not a coincidence... no doubt the AZ people read that book first.

I think the "best parts" may not have been corroborated and might have placed the author and publisher on shaky ground. The rumored sexual dalliance involving Miles and a former coach's spouse as well as the female hosts in the hotel bed at an SEC recruiting visit can be discussed if Bacon acknowledges the lack of proof-it would have been reckless (and mean spirited) to included these in a book.

Bacon denied the Miles rumors re a sexual dalliance (when speaking to the Cleveland alums). He had another theory about why Miles was not offered the coaching job, but I'll let him get into that in his own words instead of me getting it wrong with a faulty recollection. His explanation is far less salacious, but is interesting.

Wow; so the University tried to obtain a cease-and-desist order to bar FSG from using the photo of Denard on the cover?
I almost wept with joy; hearing the names of Rosenberg and the Free Press get lambasted on national radio.
And the kicker at the end: We asked the University of Michigan Athletic Department for comment; they replied that they would have no comment on a book they have not read and had no intention of reading.

Well, this was more interesting than I expected. They moved his press box seat and he is persona-non-grata at Michigan. I wouldn't have thought they would take it that far, but Carr retains a strong presence and Three and Out is not kind to him. Ouch.
Sucks for Bacon but glad he is not backing down.

I feel bad for Bacon. I think that the athletic department, university, alumni, and fanbase really screwed this program the last three years and Bacon is being ostracized for reporting that.
