John U. Bacon on ESPN Sportscenter at 9:05pm EST

Submitted by Simps on

Bacon will be on Sportscenter at 9:05pm to discuss the Michigan situation. Thought some people here might be interested.

He posted this on Twitter. (Can't embed tweet on mobile)

Edit: here's the link he posted in the tweet http://espn.go.com/video/sportscenter

So I'm not sure if it's on the ESPN news live showing of Sportscenter at 9pm or if it'll just be a clip at the above link.

Edit 2 Summary: thinks Hoke may be fired tomorrow.

Asked about his legacy and he said Hoke is well liked but with a mediocre record.

Asked about who he wants as the next coach and he said Jim Harbaugh emphatically.

Smugly asked about chances Michigan lands Jim or Les and he responded that Jim was trickier but he quoted Les from one of his books saying "I'll never say no to Michigan"

Asked for percentages of next coach he said 51% Jim Harbaugh, 25% Les Miles and 24% for the rest of the world.

Bacon is going to give a retelling of the words he's already used. Teasing yourself over and over again when anyone who "should" be in the know says something must be exhausting.

If Jim Harbaugh wants to be our next coach, he will be our next coach.  Nothing that anyone says will stop him.  If we offer him the job, the ball will be 100% in his court.  He can walk away from his contract any time that he wants to.

Now, if he will only walk away if the Niners FIRE him first and the Niners want to be dicks and refuse to fire him because they know he wants to leave, then yeah, someone could screw it up for us.   But I don't see that happening.  If Jimmy wants to be our coach, he will be. If he doesn't, he won't.  There isn't going to be any crazy "I have to either coach in the National Title Game or coach Michigan" crap going on here.

I think if Harbaugh is gonna be our next coach, Hackett already knows about it. If he has no interest, he knows that too. The decision is already made, it's just not publicly known. I have a feeling that Hackett was deliberately brought in to get Harbaugh, otherwise it makes no sense to let a guy with zero AD experience make the most important hire in program history.

I think he is going to say we are getting Harbaugh and bo Schembechler has resurrected from his grave to convince him to take the job. NOW THAT WOULD BE SOME SERIOUS INSIDER SHIT.

I think the anger is misplaced a bit too.  Bacon is just the messenger who happens to also be a very good writer, but somehow people expect/demand more than what he's able to give them.

Patience is a hard thing to have right now, as seemingly everything within Michigan's athletic department moves at a snail's pace.  But Bacon (and Sam Webb, too) understandably has to sometimes not say everything he knows as the situation is fluid and ever-changing.

JUB has been steadfast in saying its one of the 2 Harbaughs or Miles at a 85% rate if Brandon is removed.... and that is a total guess on his part.  He has basically said variations of that over and over...and over.. and over.

Until something changes from that narrative... it's the same narrative.

I wouldn't actually know because I haven't given a single fuck about MGoPoints since George W. Bush was in office. I do love that posters who haven't been on this site for a fucking month have the gall to tell me I need to fuck off because I don't toe their precious party line on how wonderful John U. Bacon is or how amazing Les Miles will be.

If I didn't leave MGo after half the quality posters were banned over some trumped up bullshit or after Brian Cook posted a fucking disgusting defense of domestic assault, I'm not going to leave because some fuckwad who thinks beating Ohio State is the only thing that matters in life tells me to.

Wow.  This post proves you are an idiot.  Comprehension is indeed a challenge if that's how you interpret Brian's thoughts on Frank Clark.  Good to know you're perfect.  Where's the link to your blog?  I'm telling you to fuck off and I've been active on mgoblog since before RR.

I can't live the button-down life like you. I want it all... the terrifying lows, the dizzying highs, the creamy middles. Sure, I might offend a few of the bluenoses with my cocky stride and musky odors - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called "City Fathers" who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about "What's to be done with this Brodie?"

the kids today with their CC threads have no idea what they missed back in December of 2007. The Chimp, the Grobe mafia, the random letters to Sigmund Freud at 1 am, that girl 00goblue00 who kept bragging about how she was a girl OMGLOL, the fake "Les Miles Fucked My Wife and Daughter" shirts. Random people stumping for Chuck Martin and K.C. Keeler.

I think any reamining veterans of that 2008 season deserve some kind of medals on their profiles. "THIS POSTER LIVED THROUGH THE CRAVIN MOOREHEAD DEBACLE OF CHRISTMAS 2008"
