Joe Lunardi's 2016 Bracketology: Michigan an 11 Seed
Every site is trolling for clicks today with their "Way Too Early Top 25" rankings. Joe Lunardi took it a step further by actually predicting the 2016 bracket. We're an 11 seed in a play-in game against Oregon.

Take Bracketology with a grain of salt. Joe Lunardi was wrong about UCLA, Indiana, and Texas.
Still not bad when you look at it over the past 10 years.
His job really isn't that tough. He changes his prediction constantly and only delivers his final verdict right before the selection. A lot of people could get 65+ right doing that.

I would imagine that it is Lunardi's job to come up with next year's top 25, bracketology, etc, just like a bunch of other writers are being told to do by their bosses.
Okay hold on a second, is HE a fucking idiot, or is it the fans who take someone seriously whose job is to know the inside and out of 300+ teams well enough to predict next year's NCAA tournament?
No, it's just him. Have you seen his hairpiece?
His hairpiece is an indication that he realizes he'll be seen in greater regard with hair than without. That's smart.
I have indeed and my god it's full of stars.
With Ron Jaworski watching 94 hours of film a day to give incorrect predictions on how QB's careers will pan out you'd think Joe could at least watch some basketball games.
play in the NFL and might know more about football than most people.
has little to do with their abilities after their playing days are over. Bill Belichick did not play pro football and seems to know how to coach it. Matt Millen was a pretty good NFL player and seems to know little about running a team.

You think he predicted us to miss the tourney last year? Injuries and other things happen throughout a season. Why get bent outta shape over a meaningless article that ESPN probably forced him to write. This specific piece is a lot like a "way too early" mock draft for the next year right after the actual draft has happened, it's inexact and often wrong. Who cares.
Lunardi may be operating on the opinion Caris is not coming back. At this point predicting a team that went 16-16 the previous year to an 11 seed is no more crazy than assuming a 7 seed is the floor.
A FUCKING FIVE SEED ARE YOU KIDDING ME THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS SHOULDN'T BE HIGHER THAN A FUCKING 7 SEED. FUCK LUNARDI AND HIS DOG AND FUCK BRACKETS BUT ESPECIALLY FUCK LOUISVILLE!
I see who is the better prayer is.
Don't blame the injuries, even with LeVert and Walton this team lost to NJIT and EMU.
It is reasonable to expect them to improve, but it's also more than reasonable to be skeptical about buying that.
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...you can't fool me twice!" - Dubya
lol
Here we go again...just like the same people who went ape shit when he had a 7 seed last year.
People were calling us a 3/4 seed on here...we lost to NJIT WITH LeVert and Walton.
Losing their best big man? Where is Ricky Doyle going?
Oh, your talking about Max Bielfeldt. Who Beilein (probably) isn't stopping from grad transfering for his fifth year.
I wouldn't call that "losing" him as much as I would say they are "fine with him leaving."
Jeff Goodman had us as a 3 seed, so just choose to believe him.

Because I'll take his word over anyone's. Besides John Candy... mmmm Candy.
How about we just stop rewarding sports pundits with page clicks and forum topics. There is pretty much no other gig on the planet where people get paid so much to be so consistently wrong on a year-in, year-out basis. If I'd painted team logos on my poops and flung it over my shoulder at a 2016 bracket I'd have a 50% chance of being more correct than every expert at ESPN
Nah weather man.
Makes sense...

Lundardi had us as a one seed this time last year.
Take his predictions with a giant grain of salt.
It's amazing the things people can turn into jobs at ESPN.
I will admit that I never understood the need to push a preliminary bracketology out this soon after the tournament, but being a good sport, I have studied this and I will await Lunardi's 2018 bracket when it comes out in the middle of May or thereabouts as well. That one will be based on real data, right?
Lunardi has the best job in the world. He effectively only works 3 months a year. Nobody cares about his work until the last month, and when that does happen, he doesn't even have to be right.
I have a running joke with my wife . . . so and so has the second best job in the world, next to Joe Lunardi.
I tell her on Selection Sunday "You and I have to go to work tomorrow morning, but Joe Lunardi is done working for the year."
Lunardi has consistently been one of the worse prognosticators about the NCAA tournament seeding. Michigan as an 11 seed seems a bit low. They might not be a Sweet 16 seed, but this team has all the talent you need to compete in this conference and play well into the tournament.
