Jim Harbaugh rides a school bus

Submitted by The Mad Hatter on

Michigan is hosting the Youth Impact Program for at-risk middle school kids over the next two weeks.

Naturally, Coach Harbaugh was up at 4:30 am, excited to take a bus ride with the kids from Detroit.

Much more info from the newspaper that shall not be named.

"It means a lot because I was one of these kids growing up," U-M second-year safety Jabrill Peppers said. "I was one of these kids. Growing up in a rough area, you've got a lot of choices to make. Life is all about choices. One choice can ruin the rest of your life. We're just here to enlighten the guys on some things in life that a lot of us learned the hard way. We want to make their lives easier."

I loved this quote:

"They probably asked 100 questions on the bus ride over here," Harbaugh said after the players had begun their day, a short combine and academic testing. "Good ones, too."

The way that I-94 clogs up from about Michigan Avenue to I-75 or so as the morning progresses, I totally get trying to be down there at sunrise essentially. Otherwise, you fall in that window between about 7 AM and 8 AM where no one actually arrives anywhere - they're all trying to get on and off various ramps near downtown. That and the westbound side tends to be clear in the morning, as you might expect., so they did have that going for them.

This is really cool. Being coached by Harbaugh would be a great experience, but I think from a kid's perspective, being coached and mentored by Jabrill or Canteen would be even cooler.

I'd want Canteen to show me some of that shake.

Can't believe nobody is calling out Jimmy's jab at CC..

"They probably asked 100 questions on the way there. Good ones, too!"

Well, at least that is what I instantly thought when I read it.
