Jim's son (rightly) putting all the blame on the 49er front office?

Submitted by MGoBlueRidge on

I'm not sure of the veracity of this, but there is a thread over at the 49ers forum about a letter written by Jim Harbaugh's son on a Facebook 49er fan group.

You have to register to view the thread, but you can find it here.

I can screen shot the letter if it is allowed here. It basically goes into detail about how York has been pushing Harbaugh out for awhile now. Stuff we all knew, I guess, but fascinating to see it coming directly from close to the source.

There is no mention of Michigan in it though.

There are quite a few big egos involved, so the dirt is bound to come out at some point. Could be indirect (like the one above) or a direct interview.  To be honest, I couldn't care less.  Michigan came out the winner in all of that non-sense...

His son doesn't have any Michigan tradition.  He is watching his dad prepare to move the family a couple of thousand miles from the place he knows as home.  He should throw the 49ers management under the bus.  In his eyes, they have not only done his dad wrong, but have affected his life, too.

Are you kidding me?  Harbaugh's son has no Michigan tradition?  My sons have spent their entire lives in the South, right in the heart of SEC country, and they are fanatical Michigan fans (happy ones, too).  And you don't think Jim Harbaugh's son has any Michigan tradition!  It's all father to son.

All's well that ends well for Harbaugh and Michigan.  If it wasn't for the 49ers front office, who knows who our next football coach would be.  As for Harbaugh, he gets $8 million/year at a place where he will be looked upon as someone who can do no wrong.  The real losers will be the 49ers.

Reading between the lines it seems like the classic problem of a good team in a salary cap world...the front office in someone like Gore's case doesn't want to spend money because they think they can find a cheaper, younger replacement with more upside. Which would drive a coach nuts because you're losing a known quantity who respects what you're trying to do and who you have some degree of loyalty to. Turns out not every team can be the Patriots.

Not impossible for this to be real; obviously not written by an 8-year-old, though. My best guess, if it's real, is that Jay Harbaugh, Jim's oldest son and a Ravens assistant wrote it.

Never mind. Imdb clearly has a typo. James is the middle child from first marriage, with the youngest born in 2000. So he's at least 16, maybe a bit older. I can believe an older teen/college student wrote this.

STOP with the creepy disection of the writing of someone's 8 or 16 year old son.  At best, it is authentic and we can all agree, but no need to hype our new coach's son's personal opinions.  At worst, it is a fake and JH will be none too pleased with our glamming on.  This entire thread should be deleated.  Stat.  Post-haste, me thinks.

He'll see what a charming little city it is and how well his family will be treated and they will forget all about how stupid the Niners front office is.

Eddie DeBartolo was a great owner but stupidly lost his franchise due to having interest in a floating casino and ended up having/letting his sister and her idiot husband own the team, they haven't won a SB since and when they finally came close, their ego's got in the way.

Lucky for us that is!!!

Bay Area resident here.

The Yorks are in football to make money, not to win.  They needed to hire Jim Harbaugh to win elections and sell tickets for season #1 of their new ballpark, but they blinked when he costs more than $4M a year.  The 49ers want to make sure they maximize on draft picks and young players, with an inexperienced coach, so that they can minimize spending.  Look for the 49ers to become the Florida Marlins of the NFL, with drastic teardowns every three to five years.
