Here is a response I had for someone who said that the Freep was merely doing their job: How did the Journalists do their job? -They did not present the actual NCAA rule in their condemning article. -Clemons testimony clearly includes hours that aren't counted toward the NCAA limit, why didn't the journalists ask Clemons questions as to time spent on each activity to make their report accurate and fair? -Why did the article exclude the specifics of voluntary hours and the rules on that, yes a coach can within the rules say playing time is dependent upon putting in voluntary time. -How is misleading and taking out of context freshman doing their job? All the freshman testimony proves is that they worked hard, no evidence of violations. -Why didn't the journalists to be balanced point out that the NCAA report released in 2008 interviewed athletes at over 600 colleges anonymously and the average player said they put in 44.8 hours a week, twice the limit of 20 hours, but within the rules based on the NCAA exemptions. -Why did Rosenberg refuse to answer the question of how many players were currently on the team - this is bad. Why did Sharp seem to imply that the only players interviewed still on the team were the 2 freshmen that were deceived. Rosenberg is duping the readers into thinking that more players on the team are complaining than in reality. -If Rosenberg is going to imply that the team is suffering academically, then he should state the fact that the team has their highest recorded GPA in history to balance it out. (Now it is *estimated* highest GPA) -Snyder when asked after the article ran if he knew what was a countable hour said no. How is that responsible for an editor and a coauthor of a condemning article on the subject of countable hours not to actually understand what he is talking about? -Is it fair for the FreePress to allow Rosenberg to write a condemning article on Rodriguez, when Rosenberg had previously been on record (over the radio) stating that he has disliked Rodriguez from day one and wants him out. Shouldn't the FreePress have someone write the article that doesn't have an axe to grind? -So apparently the 6 people are 2 freshman that were ambushed, fooled, and taken out of context and 4 transfers with potential axes to grind...and of course we can't know exactly what those transfers said. Great evidence! -Considering that we don't know what the 6 players actually said, except for the two mislead freshman, how do we know what they said actually matches up. Certainly at most only 4 of the players testimony could match up. Rosenberg said 120 players were on the team plus transfers -- and he is condemning Rod on 4 players - most likely all transfers? Yes the FreePress shows great integrity when they do their job! how to use color tags. That, and how to convert direct F**** links into revenue-neutral print links. To bring it up here seemed apropos to above discussions about F***** links: <http://www.freep.com/article/20100204/SPORTS06/100204069/1354/SPORTS/A-…; <http://www.freep.com/print/article/20100204/SPORTS06/100204069/1354/SPORTS/A-look-inside-Demar-Dorseys-recruitment> <http://www.freep.com/print/article/20100204/SPORTS06/100204069/SPORTS/A…; http://www.freep.com/print/article/20100204/SPORTS06/100204069/SPORTS/A… Edit: I'm finally off dial-up.
