Answer to Wheatley question: Not much.

5 GP, 6 catches, 36 yards.

Is DMac recovered to be able to play?
I predict DMac beat out Shea to start next year.

LOL
I don't even.....
/logs off

No, and doubtful.

Any young guys sticking out in bowl practice?
December 21st, 2018 at 10:43 PM ^
By this time I'd guess McCaffrey is well into rehabilitation. Whether he'll play in the bowl, I don't know. If I were to guess, the answer is no. Peters and/or Milton comes in before McCaffrey.
Does anyone know if he broke is left or right collarbone? That gets to whether he broke his throwing side or his other side.
I recall a game early in the season when McCaffrey was in late, and instead of stepping out of bounds, he lowered his shoulder and popped a defender. Dan Dierdorf said he admired his spunk, but hoped he'd learn to avoid those unnecessary contacts. After his collarbone break, I hope he has learned to minimize contact to only what's required.

Pretty sure it was his right clavicle.

Yeah, i seem to remember his right arm hanging funny when he came off the field.

I don't think DCaff will play, unfortunately. I hope I'm wrong but if I could put $25 on yes or no, I would put it on no.

That was Wisconsin. Saw it live. Here's the quote from my firstborn: "For the love of God please don't ever do that again!!"

Doubtful, chum. He’s a great talent but Shea has a huge upper hand on him right now. And with another year in the offense and the OL progression, Shea should be even better.
My guess is Shea starts next year, and starting in 2020, McCaffery is handed the reins. But I won’t be surprised if we see a transfer out of the QB room this off-season. Pretty crowded in there now with five scholarship QBs on the roster.

The landscape is littered with 5 star honorable mention QB talent that led their teams to 11 wins and returned their Senior year only to lose their job. Yup.

Would love to see Dmac healthy for bowl and get some playing time but doubt he will be ready to play. He has the talent to start next year but don’t see it happening with Shea coming back. Do hope he gets a lot of game action though and continues to develop I think he could be a star for the 2020 season

Wheatley doesn't necessarily have to leave for the draft, right? He redshirted in '15 so he should still have a year of eligibility left.
December 21st, 2018 at 10:34 PM ^
Wheatley played at Stoney Brook and I think had 1 catch this season. He has one year of eligibility left. No idea what is next for him.

Wheatley- 6 catches for 36 yards, or as TK said....not much. https://stonybrookathletics.com/cumestats.aspx?path=football&year=2018

Also, listed as being a Junior on his bio fwiw so has another year.

You must have graduated in the same era as me... I was in Freshman English section with Matt Elliot. He was a good guy.

Wheatley should have made the transition to OT.
December 21st, 2018 at 11:08 PM ^
OT was his path to the NFL. Bad advice by Dad W.
December 22nd, 2018 at 1:26 AM ^
I read an interview a while back, and his SR said his best chance at the league was o lineman....
December 21st, 2018 at 11:15 PM ^
He doesn't have the mentality to be a blocker 100% of the time. OT wouldn't have been a good spot for him.
December 21st, 2018 at 11:21 PM ^
Maybe a DE then?
December 21st, 2018 at 11:45 PM ^
Wheatley should have made the transition to not being 300 lbs
December 22nd, 2018 at 2:40 AM ^
Hope he at least plays some of the game. He earned it with how drastically he improved.
But this bowl game needs to get lots of reps to guys that are going to be at Michigan next year too.
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:59 AM ^
With all the players sitting out, there’s no other choice.
December 22nd, 2018 at 7:33 AM ^
Never understood why Wheatley never made it here. Seemed like he had talent and speed
December 22nd, 2018 at 7:49 AM ^
You also need a lot of "want to" to go along with the physical gifts. I don't know if he did or didn't have the "want to", but looking at how he ballooned up and wasn't near as good as he could be, you have to question his desire to play this game. It's not a character flaw or anything, there are just lots of kids that get tired of football and all the hard work that goes into it.
December 22nd, 2018 at 9:25 AM ^
Always going to wonder how he would have looked gaining 35 pounds and playing left tackle albeit that the coaching at that position was substandard to this season but I know he resisted that switch most likely to his careers detriment.
December 22nd, 2018 at 9:37 AM ^
So nobody knows if JBB is going to play?
December 22nd, 2018 at 9:59 AM ^
Apparently Harbaugh doesn't want to tell Florida in advance about player injury status? I'm not shocked.
December 22nd, 2018 at 10:12 AM ^
It is so weird how some guys just dont work out. When I watched Ty Wheatley Jr's film, and then watched him in person, I had little doubt he would be a great TE. Ty still has some time, and I'll be rooting for him.
