Is JBB Playing in Bowl?

Submitted by Rose Bowl on December 21st, 2018 at 10:25 PM

Anyone know if JBB is playing in the bowl game?  What is the severity of his injury?

Also - does anyone know how Ty Wheatley Jr. did this year at the smaller school?  Is he projected to get drafted?  Good luck to him.

By this time I'd guess McCaffrey is well into rehabilitation.  Whether he'll play in the bowl, I don't know.  If I were to guess, the answer is no.  Peters and/or Milton comes in before McCaffrey.

Does anyone know if he broke is left or right collarbone?  That gets to whether he broke his throwing side or his other side.

I recall a game early in the season when McCaffrey was in late, and instead of stepping out of bounds, he lowered his shoulder and popped a defender.  Dan Dierdorf said he admired his spunk, but hoped he'd learn to avoid those unnecessary contacts.  After his collarbone break, I hope he has learned to minimize contact to only what's required.

Doubtful, chum. He’s a great talent but Shea has a huge upper hand on him right now. And with another year in the offense and the OL progression, Shea should be even better.

My guess is Shea starts next year, and starting in 2020, McCaffery is handed the reins. But I won’t be surprised if we see a transfer out of the QB room this off-season. Pretty crowded in there now with five scholarship QBs on the roster.

Would love to see Dmac healthy for bowl and get some playing time but doubt he will be ready to play. He has the talent to start next year but don’t see it happening with Shea coming back. Do hope he gets a lot of game action though and continues to develop I think he could be a star for the 2020 season

Hope he at least plays some of the game.  He earned it with how drastically he improved.

But this bowl game needs to get lots of reps to guys that are going to be at Michigan next year too.

You also need a lot of "want to" to go along with the physical gifts.  I don't know if he did or didn't have the "want to", but looking at how he ballooned up and wasn't near as good as he could be, you have to question his desire to play this game.  It's not a character flaw or anything, there are just lots of kids that get tired of football and all the hard work that goes into it.

Always going to wonder how he would have looked gaining 35 pounds and playing left tackle albeit that the coaching at that position was substandard to this season but I know he resisted that switch most likely to his careers detriment.

It is so weird how some guys just dont work out.  When I watched Ty Wheatley Jr's film, and then watched him in person, I had little doubt he would be a great TE.  Ty still has some time, and I'll be rooting for him.
