I really do not care for the "didn't want to compete" narrative. Whenever someone says something like that I wonder if they've ever competed for a job. I don't mean in a vague sense like "I had to get good grades in school," and I don't mean for something low stakes like whether you made the varsity team in high school. I wonder if you've ever had the experience of being one of two people fighting for one spot, where failure means you have to reconsider your career. If you have had that experience, then reflect on what that was like.

I worked at Lehman after the BK and my direct boss and I were competing for the same position due to all the restructuring and consolidation. i had the vote of the staff but she has the vote of the executives. it got pretty ugly and I ended up losing and being forced out almost immediately. I'm not sure what your angle is, but I don't regret it. i also don't think that is comparable to Hall's situation. For one, I don't think it's a knock to say someone doesn't want to compete. in theory yes, but in reality no one wants a real competition that they might actually lose. These are adults who are making decisions they think are best for them. I can't fault anyone for that. good luck to him either way.

Is Oak Park a good football program? i know they produced Edwin Baker, a rb i would have liked to see go blue a few years ago. I do know they get some talent. Just wondering about the program in general. txs.

None of their sports programs tbh.  With fewer options in Detroit and the Southfield and Farmington Hills high schools consolidating, I wouldn't be surprised to see Oak Park benefit.  The school is just one mile north of the Detroit border, so they stand to benefit with fewer high school options available.

1. He is behind guys his age and does not see an opportunity for playing time soon. 2. He has gotten sideways with the staff. (Often this might mean refer to reason 1)

Mobility and big arm are way down the list for things to look for in a Qb prospect. And the teams that are in the playoffs are because they are good as a “team” not because there Qb is mobile. Bama won how many championships over the past decade or so with average immobile qbs .... js

My answer to you is this. Their offensive line is basically built to protect the QB. They run the ball an awful lot. But to sit here and lie to you say he’s a mobile QB, that I️ won’t do. He’s very, very accurate so in this instance I️ won’t call him a mobile QB . His arm is a masterpiece. I’ve seen him make some throws that are unbelievable. So if this is what people are saying I’m convinced, maybe he gets by with his feet enough to elude the defenders. He is a great QB, in the pocket. One out of the four QB’s are definitely not mobile QB’s. However, Bamas, Clemson’s, and Mayfield oh boy they definitely can and will elude the rush.

Define 'mobile' for your thinking, here...

Hurts is probably best as a dual-threat runner, running a college RPO-based spread.  But instead, he's running Saban's NFL offense with a mix of RPOs and QB draws thrown in to take advantage of his skillset.  There's been a lot of discussion about him losing his job because he's not very good in the more traditional role of a dropback passer in an NFL offense.  (And maybe there's just more shine on the bench-riddin' backup than on the starter?)  This is why people think Bama is down this year (relatively speaking, of course), because the base offense isn't lighting it up.

FWIW, I believe that Harbaugh would love to adopt some RPOs and QB draws into the offense he's morphing his scheme into.  The NFL passing spread he wants needs to be run by a guy that's competent throwing in the pocket.  But he wants the athletic ability to scramble, too.  Hence Peters, McCaffrey, Patterson, Milton, and Doyle - each have the ability to scramble out of trouble.  Patterson may be better at exectuing an RPO or draw, but they can each do it.

Game management was never ever mentioned in my post. Nor did I say what my dream Qb looks like. Good try being a smartass. Thanks for playing. Name one of Bamas recent qbs who wasn’t a game manager? The bucs won a super bowl with Trent fucking dilfer... your point is very miss guided. But like I said no thought other than trying to be a dick was involved in your post

I️ just responded below: I️ didn’t agree with the assessment of the QB’s and I️ still unequivocally say that Bama’s QB is not just a game manager.(laughs). Fromm is the real deal and he isn’t a so-called mobile QB. And don’t get yourself all worked up it’s a blog. It’s not my life!

Honestly, if the kid thinks he can play at another school, then so be it. It doesn't make him a bad person (or football player). Most of these guys will never make the NFL, so let them him go to a place where he may play and enjoy the college experience.

He's gone. He had one foot out the door before the season even started. I think he may have expected to be in the mix as a true freshman.
