Highlights for Children had a cartoon "Goofus and Gallant". Can we do a Tate version?

At the start of the OSU/ Florida title game.

Tate is a mediocre player for a mediocre basketball team that is likely not going to the tournament. He should not be gloating or slapping anyone's floor.

What facts were wrong, exactly? You posted the same thing as the OP.. but with more excuses.

He should have been focused himself. Instead he had his head down not paying attention and let his man drive directly passed him. Smacking the floor like that is an attempt to show up the player you are guarding. His team would have been more fired up if he played good man defense instead of unleashing a Neil Peart drum solo on the court.

Ha, I have been out of the game for a long time... Maybe it is some reprehensible offense nowadays, I really don't know. It certainly doesn't seem all that harmful but apparently there is a history of it between MSU/UM so maybe I am just not as tuned into it. I know that Duke does it a lot and they also often get mocked for it.

Floor slapping is the height of douchery is any situation. MSU players routinely do it, sometimes in sequence. Need I say more?

The only good floor slap is a mocking one.

That was quite the highlight.

It's not really highlighter. I like it. The maize jerseys look dim this year, like our play in them.

He was hurt before that floor slap. 'Tis not the reason he's having surgery and done.
Funny as hell, though?! Why yes it was!

According to Deadspin that's when he was injured.....
http://deadspin.com/report-jae-sean-tate-re-aggravated-shoulder-injury-…
Lots of local chatter here in Cleveland about it too. Local media basically calling him a dumbass and laughing at him for whatever that's worth.

Well, I was watching, and swear he was already having issues with the shoulder during earlier stretches of the game, before this infamous floor slap. I'd wager the labrum was already torn on something from the first half.
*not trying to be "a told you so-er"!
February 23rd, 2016 at 11:19 PM ^
The article linked in the OP says the shoulder had been bothering him but that the floor slap appeared to aggravate it. Here's longer video of the play, with the Big Ten commenter saying "he's not feeling great right now" right after it.
Prediction: Jae'Sean Tate won't be slapping the floor anytime soon. https://t.co/Mk49Zj8kLL

its a 1 slap max. 2 if its a rival.
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:17 PM ^
Well this is the funniest thing I have read all day.
February 23rd, 2016 at 9:18 PM ^
Tate injured the shoulder during February of his senior season at Pickerington Central and underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum, an injury he played through for more than a year. Tate’s father, Jermaine, said his son has been playing through a shoulder injury for a while.
Especially if it required surgery (I don't think all labral tears do), it had to be rather painful to play with that for a year, and then to re-aggravate it on something kind of, well, silly like showing the world your floor-slapping aplomb has to be a bit disenheartening.
Still, this is one of those time where, yeah, you couldn't hope to guess if you didn't know, if you will. He is definitely in that elite group that, when asked how they were injured or aggravated an injury, can simply show people the Vine of what happened.

Greg Oden's mug shot I think at least bears consideration for the most Ohio State thing ever.

Oden wasn't bad in the NBA when he was on the floor. He just was almost literally never on the floor.
