Jacob Fisher decommits for now

Submitted by Dreisbach1817 on

This is not good news.  Fisher is a huge deal for this class.  Hoke needs to find a way to keep him in this class.  While this may just be semantics (since he's visiting other schools, he's not committed), I'm thinking that his mind changed this weekend.

The competition looks stiff: Oregon, Florida, Michigan State.  Fisher visited State this weekend and had good things to say about it.

I honestly believe that Fisher should be target #1 for this team right now.  He is that important.  In fact, he is our only pure Tackle in this class (Posada likely a guard, and if Bryant comes, a Guard too).

FWIW, He says that he has spoken to Hoke and OL Coach.  He is not committed to Michigan, but they are still very much in it.  He says all four schools are equal.

Buzz on MSU site from Mod that conducted interview is that he will still end up Blue.

We'll see. His parents did go on the trip to MSU which shows he at least took the trip seriously.

OL is the greatest area of recruiting need.  The position group currently has only 3 underclasmen going into next season.  After all the upperclassmen graduate in the next two seasons, the OL will have to rely on very young players.  This class is the key to avoiding putting raw freshman on the field.

Chris Bryant is coming into Ann Arbor to meet Coach Hoke today.

There might be a surprise in the very near future.

...is that recruiting is 70% of modern college football (if you have the recruiting you'll win unless you are incompetent like Fat Charlie was at ND, heck Bobby Bowden's success in his last 5 years was pretty much entirely built on recruiting) and that the last 2 months are *the* most important time.  Brandon was from the fossilized 70s when things like this weren't as important, his failure to understand college football will hurt Michigan for years to come, and screwed Brady Hoke, a good man who didn't deserve this situation.

Our 2012 schedule is brutal, and will be the last year for the majority of the young players we have now.  The year the problem will surface is in 2013, which as we've just seen is the put-up-or-shut-up year around here for coaches.  So if Hoke posts lackluster 7-5'ish records the next two seasons, the lack of any sort of upperclass talent in 2013 is going to be rough for him and the program.

Then you might as well put yourself out of your misery now. Everyone knew the cc would cause attrition. DB all but guaranteed it. Did you really expect otherwise? Have you not witnessed other ccs? There's no way that all commits will be equally compatible/comfortable with the new coach. JH and Les would have lost a couple commits, too, believe it or not.
