Jabrill Peppers video diary from his unofficial visit

Submitted by denardogasm on

I'm surprised no one has posted this yet.  Jabrill apparently took a lot of video while on his trip to Michigan last summer and put together a diary of sorts to show why he committed.  He's doing it in episodes.  The first episode is 15 minutes long, so it's a good fix.  It's pretty clear that he wanted to come here before he even stepped off the plane and those feelings were solidified more every step of the way.

(I don't have the patience to figure out the embedding again but here's the link.  Somebody help me out.)

Wow. He will be a star, theres no doubt about it. He understands how great he is but he also knows that without hard work he won't reach his potential. But best beleive he will reach that potential.

My favorite part of this vlog was him talking about how you've got to earn everything in life and nobody cares what you did in highschool. How many top-5 overall recruits come into college talking about earning their way? Not many I would guess. As much as I would like to think of myself as a humble guy, if the entire world is telling you that you're the best, a 5-star, future all american, etc, I probably would get a really big ego. Crazy how mature this guy is for an 18 year old.

That will bring a smile to all Michigan fans.  Jabrill has a future in entertainment / music as well.  Awesome!

I hope he's the Jabrill Peppers of football.  Hopefully, even as a Freshman, his enthusiasm and drive for excellence, drives and lifts those around him.  Only looking from the outside, but this team surely seems to need some drive and enthusiasm.  That certain something, the "it", which can only come from the players themselves.

People tend to forget, or maybe not even know, that Charles Woodson wasn't just a one man show, he was a solid leader while at Michigan.  Never a captain, nevertheless, Woodson organized and led summer workouts, runs up and down Veterans Park Hill we're legendary (or at least should be so).  The 1997 Championship season was built upon the foundation laid down by Woodson and his fellow teammates during the summer of '97.

This then is the legacy Peppers will try to better during his student/athlete career at Michigan, and I wish him all the best in his endeavors both on and off the field.

Definitely agree about last year. There was something off about that team that never really was resolved. I know they had upperclassmen like Lewan and Gardner that did interviews and stuff but whether they were/are good leaders in the locker room, I don't know.

"We are going to the big house, aka my house"

He has some serious swag. What I love about the video is that he doesn't say he wants to be Charles Woodson, he says he wants to be better than Charles Woodson. To me one of the biggest things with our program is how we constantly talk about the past. I think Jabrill understands the importance of the past, but also the future and how he can be that guy were talking about 20 years down the line. We need more players with that attitude.

If you don't want to watch a kid negotiating airports, you can skip the first 10 minutes. The last 5 minutes are great though.

I don't like guys being cocky before they play a down - but I feel that the team needs a guy like JP to get some attitude back.  I feel that's been missing the last few years.  That, and he seems like a really cool dude.

Sherman isn't a tool. Sherman knows he's the best. Sherman talks trash, like every other good football player**. Richard Sherman is a guy who thrives off of respect. He hasn't had anything bad to say about people who respect him, see Payton Manning. Michael Crabtree doesn't respect him so Sherman takes it as motivation to be better than him. Actually really desirable trait to have in a football player.

My favorite part was him showing the picture of CW on the All American wall and saying I'm coming for all your records. This kid is not lacking any confidence.

Love Jabrill and the fact he is coming here. Great chance to be a special player. I just wish everyone would let up on the expectations, particularly for his first year.

He'll probably play some nickel and *might* start later in the year. We'll see if they're ready to make him the return guy as a true freshman.

I know we're all weary of the rebuild, but Hoke recruits will generally be populating just the lower three of the five year span. Realistic  expectations are 8-4 and perhaps one rivalry win, since all are on the road. We can expect more in 2015.

Wait until...whenever.  That mantra is getting old, it's time for next year to be this year.  2015 may be better than 2014, but damn it, 2014 ought to be special in its own right.  I've been a Hoke supporter since the day he was announced, perhaps even an apologist, but if all he / they can deliver is an 8-4 season, Hoke may as well hire a realtor right now.  Simply put, 8-4 at this point is unacceptable.

Sorry, but just  being tired of it doesn't make it go away. If it takes an hour to bake the cake, getting tired of waiting every ten minutes isn't going to change it.

This isn't a case of an organization telling a fanbase "next year" in perpetuity. The time frame was pretty clear to anyone willing to face the reality, and it hasn't changed. The depleted classes have moved up  the ranks and hit the highest levels in 2013. It's no surprise we bottomed out there.

"This isn't a case of an organization telling a fanbase "next year" in perpetuity."

I'm going to take Hoke at his word.  If on November 29th Michigan isn't playing to ensure a trip to Indianapolis, the season is a failure as is the HC.  That is a lower standard than Hoke is telling us he holds himself to.  Four seasons in, his team populated in very large part with his players, time to put up or shut up.

It doesn't actually matter what I think.  If Michigan has another failure of a season, which 8-4 would be, then we'll look back at the class of 2014 as the good old days.  Seven of the last eight seasons can best be described as mediocre and if 2014 is mediocre as well, I'm afraid it will become mediocre in perpetuity.

I was watching the video and my 2 year old daughter said, "who is that"?  I said, "that is Jabrill Peppers, the next Michigan legend".  She repeated, "Peppers!!!!!".  I made her say "Go BLue".

I am gonna love him the next 3 years.  I can't wait.

Looking forward to more michigan stadium and ft schembechler footage. Like this kids confidence. Please let the coaching regime get all these good players to a upper tier b1G level. I'm so tired of this team playing second fiddle to them needle dicks in ohio.
