It's been a bad week for [former] Michigan WRs

Braylon Edwards' job is in jeopardy after the Jets signed Mohamed Massaquoi yesterday:

Steve Breaston was released by the NO Saints a couple days ago:

Mario Manningham was placed on the PUP list by the SF 49ers and will miss at least the first 6 games of the season:

David Terrell was arrested on felony drug charges a couple days ago in Chicago:

And of course, Amara Darboh is out for the season after foot surgery. Jeremy Gallon and Jason Avant need to be extra careful right now.

SLIGHT MOD EDIT - I modified the title so that people would not think that the current Michigan WR depth chart was taking further hits. LSA

I thought you were going to tell me Gallon or Dileo got banged up. With the exception of David Terell(who is an idiot) those guys will be just fine. Like, they probably have a room in their house filled with 20's that they just roll around in like a ball pit when they get sad fine.

I was under the impression that, in the case of Manningham, it was because he's still in the midst of rehabilitation which is sreportedly going well otherwise, so that at least is encouraging. The 49ers will definitely need him at some point, but when you tear your ACL and PCL, I would think it is better to get the extra time to heal.

Well that is Tim Massaquoi's cousin so that's good for their family that he got a job. Also as much as the injury to Darboh sucks it is going to give Funchess and Butt more opportunities. So I guess it's been a good week for Michigan tight ends. /glass half full

This is NFL crap, and writing a title such as this indicated that there were further issues or injuries on the team. Shocker, you caused panic on the Mgoboard. Maybe that's your hobby, if so, you are sadistic and kind a jerky thing boy that no one will like.

Seriously, it's taboo right now for such a thread and write a better title and/or get a clue that isn't OT season.

Who would have thought Jason Avant would be the most consistent/solid UM receiver in the NFL. I figured Braylon and Breaston would have had at least some decent NFL careers, but neither has really had great success thus far.

Is a really good #2 or 3 receiver. He needs to be in a pass happy offense like when he was with Arizona. He does not do well in man to man as the main guy, not physical enough, but can exploit defensive zones well in a 3 to 4 wideout set. I think he could still be very productive but is very much limited to being a system guy.

Sorry, poor choice of words. I should have put solid, based on where Braylon was drafted and his awesomeness in college. I never expected Breaston to be a superstar in the pros, but i thought he would at least still be on an NFL team at this point in his career. Braylon as well.

I hope Avant gets a lot of receptions in Philly and shows up Mr. Cooper.

Also, the blog needs a Friday posbang thread (not sure how). We need to go into game week in a better mood.

Had really planned on taking one of Braylon or Breaston with my last pick. Guess I won't do that now. But Denard slips to the final round, I'm not filling my roster with too many reaches.

That reminds me, back in like '07 I pretty much drafted as many Michigan players as I could. Damn you Chris Perry and his injuries! That's when he was starting to get talked up as a legit option, Tom Brady at QB, Perry at RB (Anthony Thomas I think was on the Bills and was drafted late), Braylon, Breaston, Avant. I know there were two Michigan TEs at the time (one was Shea, drawing a blank on the other). Then I think I picked the Steelers D (maybe it was the Jets) because they had a couple Michigan guys. If Perry wouldn't have gotten hurt I would have had a pretty good team. Not many schools you can do that with.

England climbs to 118-1 as Australia sits at 492-9, largely on Joe Root's performance.  He reminds me of a young Alastair Cook.  He's in total command of the game at the moment as he eases two down to long leg off Peter Siddle.  Just outstanding.
