It's all Harbaugh's fault

Submitted by KansasBlue on

Anyone in need of a good laugh, feel free to click on this fascinating article.  Apparently players were allowed to leave their dirty laundry on the locker room floor during Harbaugh's tenure and THAT is why the 49ers are a dumpster fire now.  Discuss.

First Harbaugh's too much of a hard ass who hurts his players' feelings. Then he is too nice. Sounds like a sparty fan comparing him to JLS because of his off the field antics or a buckeye saying he won't work out here because he was only 29-21 at Stanford. People seriously pick at strawman arguments.

evidently, the 49ers need FIVE (?!?!?!?!) of these people?

If an NFL roster has ~60 people on it, counting the practice squad and such, there needs to be one "player engagement person" for 12 players?  Really?

Seriously, these NFL players just need to GROW UP at some point.  It's somewhat excusable in college, but they are now ADULTS.  Pick up your dirty laundry, and stop blaming your poor off-the-field behavior on other folk.

Dirty laundry and cafeteria trays are a metaphor for a coddling approach off the field by Harbaugh? Hmmmmm, that seems......a stretch, at best...

Apparently it was a problem during spring camp this year, with players leaving towels in the locker room. Minick pointed it out to JH and suggested for every towel left behind, the entire team would run "gassers". The problem corrected itself in two days. So this story seems like a healthy serving of BS to me.

Noted failure Jim Harbaugh, too hard on his players on the field, too soft on his players off the field, and just all around went out of his way to steer the 49ers away from their core values.  Where will he screw up next?

So, Harbaugh is supposed to tell grown up men that they need to do their laundry? Wow. When will this stop. Teenagers don't do their laundry in this day and age. Grown men need to grow up. Geez!!! Bunch of idiots.

Even Niners Nation isn't really putting a lot of stock in this:

As for Davis's comments, it is hard for me to take this too seriously. Prior to his current NFL Network gig, he served as the 49ers radio color analyst. He is part of the NFL apparatus, and I am inclined to think he might be more likely to defend the 49ers in this case.

There's also some rumbling that Harbaugh may have wanted to institute a code of conduct but was rebuffed by 49ers management. Not sure how true that might be, but the implications made by Davis definitely ring hollow. The 49ers fascination with making Harbaugh the go-to answer for their numerous issues is incredible....and sad.

Abilitiy to get team to SuperBowl = Worth $Millions

Abilitiy to pick up towels = A service that can be outsourced for miniscule $ compared to SuperBowl worth.

If an NFL team is producing at a SuperBowl competitive level and the coach/GM/owner thinks its a good use of resources to have the players leave their towels/laundry to be picked up by a service, then Who Effin Cares?

I'm sure they would blame Harbaugh for the players that were drafted but then someone would point out that Harbaugh wasn't the GM.

I wonder how many years they will continue to blame Harbaugh.

My favorite thing from Kawakami was from Harbaugh's last 49ers presser when it was known Harbaugh was gone. Kawakami basically says 'you know all that crap I was writing about you losing the team and stuff was basically bullcrap coming from management, right'. And Harbaugh with no animosity just says 'I know'.

When I was four/almost five years old I broke my arm. This happened to be on the same day that Harbaugh broke his arm vs. Michigan St. (Born & raised in Ann Arbor. Went to Logan Elementary, Clague Middle School and Huron High)

I was taken to UofM Hospital and sat in the waiting room for several hours in agonizing pain. After several hours, Jim Harbaugh was rushed straight through with the same ailment I had.

After this, my Mom blew up at the staff.

She takes no shits from anyone and is a six-foot tall Amazon woman, so no one gives her shits and they (like my siblings and I) cower in fear when her rage is unleashed. She let loose on the hospital staff like a banshee.

In cleaned up quotes: " I don't give a f--- who he is! We've been here for hours, and you rush him by MY SON!? I don't give a F--- who he is" ...lots of other profanities and threats of mild(ish) violence ensued.

...I was the next one to be helped by the hospital staff.

Anyway, I still have the cast and I would love to have Coach Jim Harbaugh sign and inscribe it. It is one of my least favorite memories/best coincidences.

I would love if the MGoBLog Community could help me get this done. I can't imagine a better keepsake then a sigend & framed broken-arm cast from The Harbaugh.

Thanks.

I would have posted this in the "Friday Night Drinking Thread" but I couldn't find it. Is drinking alcohol really off-topic for a blog dedicated to college sports? Friday night drinking and college seem inextricably linked to me.

as pure propaganda. They leak so much BS that you can't know what to believe from reporters either. The way Kawakami describes the 49ers management could equally apply to the NFL front office.
