I pray to God Drevno didn't show him the Pepcat and try to sell him on that. "see that guy getting hit 3 years before the LOS? that could be YOU!"

I know it's old news but man it was so frustrating the way they used Peppers on offense. Every time they just direct snap for -1 yard (many times), we assumed it was for setting up something different later on. Somehow that never came. Not even in the final game against Ohio State. Maybe at that point they figured defenses were now waiting for it but damn, a great talent totally not utilized on offense.

Peppers was a one of a kind athlete but when he was in the defense knew it was a run. Barrett could actually provide a credible passing option too to keep the defense honest. Would love to see M use him how Florida used Tebow as a freshman- a strong, physical running threat who can sneak a jump pass every now and then when the defense sells out to the run.

Where I’m just going to sit back and see what 2018 brings. Harbaugh knows the stakes. He knows how important this year is going to be. He apparently chose to keep Drevno and Pep and it has absolutely nothing to do with money. We all know we could have overcame that obstacle if he wanted us to. We have one more coach coming in and have no idea who that will be or what coaches will coach what positions. Harbaugh is the coach we all longed for and I’m not ready to shove him out the door after one horrible season. I have no idea what this season will bring but I’m at the point that sitting around and questioning everything with zero information does nothing but bring misery. That doesn’t mean I don’t have my questions on our direction offensively but I have no way of getting answers. If 2018 goes well, everyone will look at it like we had one bad season. If 2018 doesn’t go well, then it will be apparent Harbaugh didn’t make the decisions to right the ship. I always said RR needed four years and said same about Hoke. You have enough of your people at that point to be successful. It’s up to the coaches. I’m just gonna sit back and watch with wonder and curiosity. Let’s see how 2018 plays out...

But it serves no purpose. It’s like trying to figure out why we are going after certain position groups in recruiting and not others. You aren’t going to get that detailed info. I’m certain that Harbaugh knows his offense stunk this year but what I’m not certain of is how he intends to fix that. We’ve all read about this paradigm shift in recruiting philosophy. Why though? Hopefully 2018 will answer a lot of the questions.

I agree that Harbaugh knows that his offense this year wasn't consistently good enough to win games against good teams.

If nothing else, he learned about it from all of the insightful geniuses who bitch and moan on this board constantly, as we all know that our (myself included) fund of football knowledge far exceeds that of Harbaugh, Drevno, Hamilton, et. al.

What did he do after the season? He went out and recruited Patterson at QB, hired Enos (who, apparently is leaving, but still ...), and brought in Warinner. He was unable to bring in the WR transfer candidate, Jefferson, from Ole Miss, but tried, and is attempting to bring in the grad transfer OT from Rice.

It's not as if he's sitting back, doing nothing, and accepting the status quo.

As for the freshmen he's bring in, I suspect he knows that we'll need to field an offense and a defense comprised of more than DB's. Look at Gentry and Poggi just to name two guys who've switched positions. We don't necessarily know now where the staff plans to play a kid in college regardless of his HS position.

I appreciate your attempt to lend a little sanity and perspective to the board, but there are some who'll complain if we don't go undefeated every year by lopsided scores. I'm afraid you're preaching to deaf ears.
