Iowa vs LSU? Good luck.
December 8th, 2013 at 9:51 PM ^
Hey, Iowa is the best 4-loss team in the country. Didn't you know?
December 8th, 2013 at 10:01 PM ^
Kind of like how UM was the best 4-loss team last year. I think they have a chance, but that LSU offense is a lot better than in years past, and you have to think that defense will ve stout despite some struggles.
December 8th, 2013 at 10:13 PM ^
LSU will be without their starting QB
December 8th, 2013 at 10:33 PM ^
December 9th, 2013 at 12:42 PM ^
regardless of who QB's for LSU
December 8th, 2013 at 9:53 PM ^
Also, Rose bowl.
I'm disappointed that OSU isn't playing Bama...would like to see them with 2 straight losses.
December 9th, 2013 at 11:00 AM ^
Plus the only other time OSU/Clem meet up in 78' something happened.... I won't spoil it but I'm sure ESPN will beat it to death.
T. Boyd vs OSU secondary.
December 8th, 2013 at 9:53 PM ^
Dumb... Feel like the games could be so much better... I mean Alabama/Oregon was the game we all wanted to see at the beginning of the season, yet they go ahead and choose Oklahoma.
December 8th, 2013 at 9:55 PM ^
I believe they wanted to encourage Alabama to complete more than 7 forward passes to win the game.
December 8th, 2013 at 9:56 PM ^
December 8th, 2013 at 10:19 PM ^
Those schools don't travel except to the Rose and Holiday.
It's still about putting fannies in the seats and Oklahoma is going to send a lot more people than Oregon especially to the Sugar Bowl.
December 8th, 2013 at 9:53 PM ^
Oregon should put up at least 75 on Texas.
December 8th, 2013 at 9:54 PM ^
Notre Dame goes from NCG last year to playing 6-6 Rutgers in freezing Yankee stadium. Nice. Go Scarlet Knights.
December 8th, 2013 at 9:57 PM ^
Anyway...Go B1G!
December 8th, 2013 at 11:18 PM ^
Downside of no conference affiliation. Atleast that ends this year and we get ACC tie ins next year.

Minnesota is going to run over Syracuse... Syracuse is a terrible team and Minnesota is only going to get better. I'm surprised you have Rice beating Mississippi state. Wisconsin will beat South Carolina, but Iowa and Nebraska will lose. I think Sparty wins their elusive Rose Bowl - Stanford's offense is pretty conventional and Michigan State is built to stop it. Carlos Hyde definitely had a good game against State, but Stanford doesn't have anyone as good as Hyde and their O-line is not as experienced as Ohio's.
December 8th, 2013 at 11:26 PM ^
I like Stanford in that game, but I if the over under was 20 I think i'd bet the under.

Out of all those bowl games there's about six that should be interesting. I don't expect anyone outside of M and KSU fans to be excited about the BWW Bowl.
December 8th, 2013 at 10:00 PM ^
all the BCS games minus the Fiesta (zzzzz), obviously the Michigan game, Alamo, Chick Fil-a, and then the usual Gator, Capital One, Outback. other than those, pretty meh
December 8th, 2013 at 10:11 PM ^
I'm thinking UCF will knock the Bears from the top ten
December 8th, 2013 at 10:21 PM ^
but they are a really, really good team. I think Steele thought they had top 20 talent in 2012 and maybe this year as well.
In short, I agree with you. At least I think that game is going to be a lot better than most people think.
December 8th, 2013 at 10:01 PM ^
I, for one, would love to see 'Johnny Football' sent to the NFL with a loss. I'm taking Duke as my upset special. I also could see Bowling Green giving Pittsburgh a run for their money, for sure.
December 9th, 2013 at 10:39 AM ^
I have said that I would pay money to see Johnny Football play. Now I have a chance to do it. Good draw for the Peach/Chicken Sammich Bowl.
December 8th, 2013 at 10:02 PM ^
Anyone else going to the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl?
I usually go every year. But this year is special since I'll be a freshman at Bowling Green next fall. They have a pregame pizza party at the Tiger Club at Comerica.
10 cents a slice and you get a free can of pop with each slice.
December 8th, 2013 at 10:19 PM ^
My grandfather would roll in his grave if he knew what they did to the pizza. Original 59 recipe my ass.
December 8th, 2013 at 10:26 PM ^
Meh, $5 for a large pepperoni is unbeatable. And it tastes pretty good to me, at least.
Unless it is covered with cornmeal on the bottom. Which is disgusting. I filed a complaint about it & they stopped showering it thankfully.
But $5 for pizza, throw in some crazy bread & a pop and you're set.

The 100th Rose Bowl is Stanford versus [REDACTED].
dammit...

Toledo not going to a bowl is a joke. Especially seeing that ohio u got in
December 8th, 2013 at 10:10 PM ^
Surprised OSU is playing Clemson, but I guess that's how the BCS pairing went down. That will be one of those Holiday Bowl track meets, so at least fans will see some fireworks.
MSU and Stanford is going to be one of those close games that feels like a rock fight until you look up and see the socre is 24-21.
December 8th, 2013 at 11:27 PM ^
It's the first time Ohio is playing Clemson since the Woody Hayes "incident." Drinking game suggestion:
Drink every time they mention Woody Hayes or Charlie Bauman.
If they show the video, punch a dude in the face.
December 9th, 2013 at 9:06 AM ^
But I don't think we'll be so lucky.
December 8th, 2013 at 10:12 PM ^
Would have liked to see Bama and Oregon go at it instead of Oklahoma.
December 8th, 2013 at 10:32 PM ^
Very much agree, though you can't really blame the Sugar Bowl committe for taking the closer, bigger program. Sets up a true blue blooded battle that should sell well.
December 8th, 2013 at 10:19 PM ^
I thought Nebraska was going and bought 17 tickets for the game last week...anyone interested in them? Section 241 row 5 seats 12-18, row 6 seats 13-17, row 7 seats 13-17.
I'm selling them for $52.00/ea (pretty much face value) plus shipping.
You can email me at [email protected] if you're interested. they print and mail on the 13th of Dec so I expect to get them on the 17th.
December 8th, 2013 at 10:28 PM ^
I am doing a terrible job at keeping track of these bowl games. Every year they seem to either add a couple or change their names. Also, I have no idea which bowl games have ties to specific conferences anymore. Its constantly changing.
December 8th, 2013 at 10:29 PM ^
I guess it's a fair Big Ten schedule. One big favorite (Minnesota), one big underdog (Iowa) with the rest likely to be somewhere between slight favorite and slight underdog. The rest are all winnable, even if I'm not sure I like any of the matchups for the Big Ten team.
December 8th, 2013 at 10:50 PM ^
I think Minnesota (Run over a weak defense), Wisconsin (Good offensive line to neutralize S. Car's strength), Michigan (Kansas State is entirely mediocre), and Ohio State (Will score on Clemson easily) got favorable matchups, Michigan State (Stanford's tight ends are really athletic) and Nebraska (Defense needs to improve) got slightly negative matchups, and Iowa got screwed. Overall, the conference record should be hopefully be 4-3 with a BCS win which is pretty respectable. Next year is the year when things get interesting, though, with Wisconsin, Michigan (please), Michigan State, and Ohio State all in the title mix and Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska as good but not great teams.
December 8th, 2013 at 11:06 PM ^
Agree on Minnesota and maybe Wisconsin (though, the public will surely feely differently), Michigan is also mediocre and Clemson will also score easily on Ohio State. I think Michigan State can win that one, it's a game where both teams are highly dependant on which version of their QB shows up. No idea on Nebraska, don't really know if either team gets any of their injured players back, but Georgia has seemed to handle it better even when losing. I'm hoping for at least 3-4.
I think your thoughts on next year are wildly optimistic.
December 9th, 2013 at 6:09 AM ^
Ehh Michigan was mediocre, but we definitely have the talent to be considered "good" while KSU really doesn't have that talent. Doesn't mean that they're a pushover - they'll be tough to play - but we definitely have a good shot of winning that one.
Clemson will score on Ohio State, yes, but the matchup of Ohio's D-line to Clemson's O-line and Clemson's D-line to Ohio's O-line favors Ohio State and they tend to have a run-the-ball control-the-clock strategy which tends to work against teams with bad defenses.
Michigan State has had good Connor Cook show up in every game since the Purdue game. I think bad Connor Cook is pretty much safely gone now.
I don't quite see how next year's scenario is wildly optimistic - basically I'm saying that Wisconsin, Ohio, MSU all get marginally better, that we take a step forward, and that Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska regain form. I meant Big 10 title discussion, not national title discussion, btw. It seems perfectly reasonable that next year is a slightly improved conference from this year.
December 9th, 2013 at 10:09 AM ^
I think you're undervaluing KSU, losing sight of Clemson's passing offense vs. Ohio State's back 7 being a huge mismatch and seemingly forgotten Bad Conor Cook's performance against Minnesota. With Cook facing far and away the best defense he's seen all season in Stanford, I'm not sure anyone can count on much out of the MSU offense.
As I said in my initial post, I see one big favorite, one big underdog, and the rest somewhere in between. I can come up with reasons for Big Ten optimism in each game, but also reasons for dread.
I had read your last line as national title picture, not Big Ten. I disagree though that Ohio and MSU will get marginally better. I expect them to be at least marginally worse. I honestly haven't considered Wisconsin's depth chart, so not sure what to expect from them next year. As for us? Who knows. Tougher schedule, losing a lot on offense. Think we're still a year away from really being competitive.
