Images from the Winter Classic

Just stumbled on these great images from yesterday's snowy Winter Classic at the Big House on CBSSports and thought people might like to see them. How great is this?

If you attended, tell us what it was like!

Everyone was really into the game and most were fairly knowledgable about the game. Also molson in the big house = win. Only downside was my feet and face were numb but you could go into crisler to warm up at intermission

Best sports event I've ever attended.  Such a fun atmosphere.

Those darn Canadians are just too nice, and really know how to support their team.  Still, 1967.

It was beautiful.  Like waking up to a surreal scene in a cabin on Mont-Tremblant with five hookers from Montreal.  All different colors.  Just like my cars.

Awesome. I didn't even realize that they made the outline of the entire field look like hockey boards, and shaped like an ice rink. Cool touch.

I love the aerial shot too!

I preferred the Big Chill because I am agnostic about the wings and leafs, also because it was 30 degrees and I could feel my face. That all said, great event and a great time. Glad to have gone.

That was cool to see and I love that it snowed the entire time; very fitting. At least we got one point from that game. I also really like it when two teams wear their non-white uniforms. It looks pretty cool and I really hope Michigan and Ohio do that sometime. UCLA and USC do it, so I am wondering why the people in charge at M and Ohio are seemingly against it.

While I was not there, I did watch from my house some 20 miles distant.

All the same, I imagine there might be some minor interest in how well it did on television compared to other editions of the game. The ratings are in - HERE.

With a 2.9 overnight rating on NBC, the match tied the high set by the 2009 version of this event and, for that matter, a regular season contest in general.

The game managed an 18.0 in the Detroit market as well.

Well if it's tickets sold then it looks like the Big Chill might stand as the record. However, that doesn't pass the eye test. I thought the Winter Classic clearly had the Big House closer to capacity than the Big Chill did.

Strange circumstance. The Big Chill supposedly sold 113,000 tickets but Guiness only certified it as about 103,000 scanned. The Winter Classic apparently only solid 105,000 but it certainly looked like a solid 110,000 in there to me

Just saw Winter Classic highlights on France 24 (French BBC) at my apartment here in North Africa.

The commentators were both complementary of the stadium, but they were (understandably) not enthused about the weather.

If only the fing Wings could have pulled out the W.

Awesome experience. My brother and I arrived at Pioneer a little after 8am. We set up our 4 person pop up ice shanty. Seats, heater, beer, the whole works. When we eventually made our way to the stadium I grabbed a Molson. Leafs fans were real cool. Just very happy to be there watching hockey. A big downside to serving beer obviously was the bathroom lines. Brutal compared to Michigan games. It would have been nice if it was about 15 degrees warmer because by the 3rd period I was a frozen block of ice.
