If we fire RR...
...then who does UM hire. I am not a "fire RR" guy at all. But if you are one of those people, who should the university hire? It has to be a logical hire. Pete Carroll will not come here. Ever. Lane Kiffen would be one example of someone who you could hire. Also, who would fill in for the rest of the season, or do you announce that he will be fired at the end of the season? I'm just curious and I won't attack any responses. I'm sure someone else will.

1) We're not firing RR
2) If we fired RR, no one of any note would come to Michigan at all. Even other lower-level guys wouldn't be too fond of going to a school that fired a coach one year in for anything other than major NCAA violations (the only truly acceptable reason to fire a coach one year in). Not just the Carroll level, but the Kiffin, Hoke level wouldn't come here either. And our recruiting would die for a year or two also.
Honestly, with the guys we have on offense, I'm not sure Jesus Christ himself could have made this team good.

I know he won't get fired. I'm just curious if the "fire RR" group actually has a solution behind their opinion. I really can't think of anyone who could come in and be a better prospect. Especially since they would have to hire a whole new staff as well.
October 13th, 2008 at 12:21 PM ^
There is no solution; they're just so caught up in their anger and rage that they want to fire Rod 6 games into his first season. Once they calm down and start reasoning, they'll realize that Rich Rod is here to stay for the next several years barring a major scandal. Stay the course...

Jesus Christ could have turned the other team's water cooler into wine. That would have helped.

I hear his Angel Wing T is pretty unstoppable too.

OBVIOUSLY WE WILL GET LES MILES HE IS A TRUE MICHIGAN MAN. I ALSO HEAR GOOD THINGS ABOUT THAT BILL BELICHECK COACHING OUR VERY OWN TOM BRADY. HE WOULD PROBABLY GIVE UP MILLIONS OF DOLLARS FOR THE PRIVILEDGE OF COACHING MICHIGAN.
/sarcasm.
They probably want to bring back Assistant to the Assistant Head Coach Debord.

You set the program back 5 years. You have to transition out of the transition we're currently in and build the program in what is likely to be a completely different direction. You also burn an entire year of recruiting as well.

Don't even lend an ounce of credence to the lunatic fringe with a post title like that. I know it's just anonymous internetland, but consider how it will be interpreted by the throngs of idiots out there.

Rita Rodriguez!!!!
Actually, firing RR would be the height of insanity and it would not matter one iota who Michigan would hire to take his place. If we did, to paraphrase Lee Marvin in The Dirty Dozen, "it would confirm to me that someone in the administration is a raving lunitic."

y would we fire rich rod with a half a season experience uder his belt?? thats stupid...he didnt do well in his first season at west virginia, but he turned that around. he didnt get a good recruiting class, and all that talk about how any quarterback could be molded into the option system was true, but the quarterback has to actually be a quarterback...not a walk on or a wannabe ryan mallet...once he gets his recruits in here, and some of the younger guys start developing (remember last year was the year to go all the way, everyone graduated) we shuld be in good shape
October 13th, 2008 at 2:28 PM ^
We shouldn't FIRE RR we should SET FIRE to RR.
It seems quite clear to me that he would coach better if he were on fire.
October 13th, 2008 at 2:31 PM ^
why would we fire rich rod with only a half a season under his belt?? thats just stupid, theres no reason to expect a lot from this year of michigan football...theres a transition between coaches and systems, a system which is a total turn aroud from what lloyd (and the freshman recruiting class) did...he has none of his recruits...this system can be molded to any quarterback, but the catch is that there has to be a quarterback that is playing, not a walk on or a ryan mallet wannabe...give him some years, let the current guys develop (boubacar had a great game on saturday) and let him get his recruits, then see who's talking about firing rich rodriguez

Apparently some of you can't decipher the thread topic. I am calling out all of the "fire RR" idiots to see who they think could do such a better job. God, even the side I'm on is pissing me off with half-full buckets of stupid. I do find it funny that no one who said we should fire RR is actually commenting on this though.
bballa, if anyone is a voice of reason on the transition, it has been me. I'm big on people actually backing up claims (it rarely happens here) so I thought I'd try again with the loonies that roam this joint.
October 13th, 2008 at 3:16 PM ^
Can no one on the internet decipher a post? I was trying to get the "fire RR" crew to back up their opinions with some actual substance. That's all I was trying to do people. Good lord, even the people on my side carry some half-full buckets of stupid sometimes. I just wanted to see if they would back up their wild-ass claims. Which coincedentally, none of them have.

What, you wouldn't be jacked for the Mike Debord era to begin?

+1.
Also if the mouse+mouse+sex+mousetrap picture is an intentional Flight of the Conchords reference, +100.
