If I hear a crazy rumor...that seems to have some legs...who do I report it to!?

Submitted by k06em01 on

I'm not going to share this on the board and spread a bunch of innuendo without any real base behind it...so i was wondering if there was an expert mod or something that I could forward what I heard to...and hear something back?

Email it to Brian perhaps.

If it is something about this upcoming weekend, I would recommend posting it if it is positive news for Michigan. Just make sure you quantify the flimsiness of your facts so we all know what we're dealing with.

If its something negative, no one wants to hear it right now, especially if it ends up being false.

I'm not saying that we should ignore everything negative about the program, even though I know some of you will interpret it that way. I just personally do not want to hear it when The Game is only two days away.

Send it to the Free Press. They specialize in publishing unsubstantiated rumors at their tabloid of a paper. Of course when the article comes out, "rumor" will be replaced with "fact", and "anonymous tip" will be replaced with "in-depth investigation".

Don't worry about emailing it to Brian. If it's an unsubstantiated rumor with far-reaching implications that should be verified absolutely before spreading, Deadspin is probably already working on a post. Should be up later today.

This is really one of the most annoying fucking posts all season. You remind me of a teenage girl who has a rumor she just cant keep to herself just because she wants attention - "I've know a secret and I'm not gonna tell!" Bad week/season for such games.

look buddy, i've been asked not to comment on what i've heard on the board. i posted the only legitimate thing i've seen in regard to the rumor i heard. take another look at it, maybe something will click. if you really want to know what i heard, send me a private message and an email or something...and if you promise not to spread it...i'll let you know everything i know.

Just a couple more observations - I find the K06em01's self-posbang in the OP curiously consistent with the need for attention through rumor mongering. I also wonder if anyone wanting to hear the rumor, and having to state "I promise I wont tell anyone" feels just the least bit emasculated.

difference between posting and emailing an unsubstantiated rumor is that recruits don't hear it. everyone i have emailed it to thus far has been thankful and intrigued. if you (or anyone else) wants one, let me know. i think i have sent them to everyone that's asked...but i'm losing track. if you asked for one and haven't got it yet, its bc i think i already sent you one...let me know if i havent.

you can tell whoever, just dont post it here or on any other board for that matter. read the email and you will know why.

How exactly do you know you haven't just emailed your info to a dozen recruits, or their friends and relatives?

excellent enforcement policy there, you should work for the CIA.
